The Brute Magmasaur is a Brute Creature in  ARK: Survival Evolved's Expansion Pack Genesis: Part 1.

Basic Info

Behavior

The Brute Magmasaur has much more health and damage than a regular  Magmasaur, once the Brute Magmasaur falls below a certain amount of health, they will disappear and must be tracked down via footprints. Eventually, the Brute Magmasaur will reach a certain point where they will no longer teleport and only fight, after defeating the Brute Magmasaur you will gain Hexagons and high quality loot.

Appearance

Brute Magmasaur appear similar to the normal  Magmasaur but are larger in size.

Color Scheme and Regions

This section displays the Brute Magmasaur's natural colors and regions. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Brute Magmasaur. The colored squares shown underneath each region's description are the colors that the Brute Magmasaur will randomly spawn with to provide an overall range of its natural color scheme. Hover your cursor over a color to display its name and ID.

This information can be used to alter the Brute Magmasaur's regions by entering cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID> in the cheat console. For instance, cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6 would color the Brute Magmasaur's "main" magenta.

  • 1These are the base speeds of the tamed creature at 100% Movement Speed, i.e. without a possible taming bonus.

Wild Stats Level-up

Type in values of a wild creature to see on which stats it's emphasized. Green values on a high-level creature are very good for breeding. If you have already tamed your creature you can try to recover the breeding stats with an external tool.[1]

Brute Magmasaur

The stat-calculator does not work in the mobile-view, see here for alternatives: Apps

Note that after the creature is tamed it gets bonuses on some stats depending on the taming effectiveness. This makes it hard to retrieve the levels on a tamed creature, so this tool is only for wild ones, but gives a first impression, how well the stats are distributed.

Combat

This section describes how to fight against the Brute Magmasaur.

General

The Brute Magmasaur appears in the mission "Hunt in the Heat". It's simply a larger  Magmasaur with the same behavior. Due to its high level it is capable of dealing devastating damage to players with its searing shot, likely one-shotting most players without quality flak armor. Just like its brethren they are rather weak at close-quarters combat so try to close the distance ASAP!

The Brute Magmasaur averages around 140k-160k health total and is assisted by 4 high-level  Carnos in the last phase of the fight. These  Carnos can cause some heavy knockback and make you vulnerable to a searing shot. Try to use cover to remove the  Carnos out of the Brute Magmasaur's direct line of sight, then finish it off afterwards.

Strategy

If you do not have an agile mount then you either need to try flank around the Brute Magmasaur or be really good at dodging since its searing shot can kill players instantly without sufficient armor. Rushing the Brute Magmasaur with  Rexes is a sound strategy since it would help to protect the player. Although the Brute Magmasaur can heat up and deal consistent damage to creatures in its proximity, this damage is minuscule compared to its other attacks, especially on Beta and Alpha difficulty.

Creature-wise, it's best to stick with creatures that can close the distance fast and have a good bit of health to withstand the enflamed debuff and occasional attacks. It would be best to use   Rexes and/or a pack of   Allos since they are generally durable enough to close the distance fast, not to mention that the   Allos can inflict a percentage of damage which can tear into its large health pool. If you have access to one, an imprinted   Giga is not auto-enraged by its melee attacks on alpha difficulty so you can use a couple of those to make the fight a bit easier. It'll shred gamma and beta difficulties with absolute ease.

Players are advised to bring Medical Brews to heal through the enflamed damage the  Magmasaur can inflict, if you intend to stay at close quarters. Alternatively, stay at range, use cover, and wear it down with ranged weapons.

Weaponry

If you plan to stay at range, the Assault Rifle is probably the best choice, though its large body may still make the Pump-Action Shotgun a solid choice. The Tek Rifle will help to keep the  Carno minions at bay and still deals respectable damage overall.

Dangers

The main danger the Brute Magmasaur poses is its searing shot being able to kill players in one hit, especially on higher difficulties. It can also slowly wear the player down with its enflamed debuff if they stay too close, even if they are mounted.

Weakness

Compared to other brute creatures, its melee damage and health pool are subpar. It's also rather sluggish to move around and its AI is susceptible to locking to where it refuses to do anything. It's essentially a one-trick pony; nullify its ability to use its searing shot and the fight is rather easy.
