The Traits are a new mechanic that came out along with Aberration on  ARK: Survival Ascended.

General

Traits are additional passives that affect on certain ways the creatures that posses them. Every time a creature appears or hatches from a WILD fertilized egg it will have a random trait and level of this one. This information can be known by looking at the creatures with the  Gene Scanner and holding H key, this menu will bring more information about the traits that the creature has.

Usage

Traits can be extracted from tamed creatures by hitting them with the  Gene Scanner, then the traits can be stored on a  Gene Storage or on the same Gene Scanner that was used for the extraction, but it can only store up to 10 at the same time.

If the creature is an adult, it will be unable to receive any traits, including ones extracted from that creature. However, any creature that has not reached full maturity is able to freely transfer traits. Each creature can have up to 5 traits at the same time.

Traits

Here is a list of all the available traits:

Angry Deal an additional +1.25% outgoing-damage as  Health reaches 50-25%. 2 0.625%
Athletic Gain 0.05 health-regen and 0.0005 stamina-regen for each point in  Oxygen. 3 0.025  Health, 0.00025  Stamina.
Bearing Reduces weight by 15% on certain items inside its inventory, those items depends on the variant of this trait: 3 7.5%
Carefree Gains 7.5%  Movement Speed that is lost for 20 seconds after dealing/receiving damage or gaining a rider. 1
Cold Creature and its rider gain 40 Hyperthermic Insulation. Reduces incoming damage from HEAT attacks (fire-breath type stuff) by 5%. 3 20 Hyperthermic Insulation, 2.5% damage resistance.
Cowardly Whenever this Creature receives damage from a non-allied target, it gains a 2.5%  Movement Speed buff for 5 seconds, refreshing on subsequent hits. 3 1.25%
Distracting Non-allied targets that take damage from this Creature's melee attacks deal 5% less damage to all other targets for 20 seconds. 1
Diurnal Reduces  Stamina consumption during day time by 2.5%. 3 1.25%
Excitable Hitting an enemy with this Creature's basic melee attack reduces the cooldown of its other abilities by 0.25 seconds. 1
Fast Learner Increased XP by 15%.

This trait can be replaced on adult creatures.

Frenetic  Torpor regen increased by 7.5%. 3 3.75%
Giant Slayer This Creature deals additional damage to larger targets, but less damage to smaller targets. Outgoing damage against Creatures with Drag Weight +500 is increased by 2.5%. Outgoing damage against Creatures with Drag Weight -200 is decreased by 7.5%. 2 1.25% Damage increase, 3.75% Damage decrease.
Heavy Hitting  Melee Damage increased by 2.5%, but attack speed reduced by 5%. 3 1.25% Damage increase, 2.5% Attack Speed.
Robust Increases the chances of its offspring to inherit a specific stat by 1.5%. The stats can be  Health,  Stamina,  Oxygen,  Food,  Weight or  Melee Damage. 3 0.75%
Frail Reduces the chances of its offspring to inherit a specific stat by 1.5%. The stats can be  Health,  Stamina,  Oxygen,  Food,  Weight or  Melee Damage. 3 0.75%
Mutable [Positive] Increases the chances of its offspring to mutate on a specific stat by 1%. The stats can be  Health,  Stamina,  Oxygen,  Food,  Weight or  Melee Damage. 3 0.5%
Mutable [Negative] Decreases the chances of its offspring to mutate on a specific stat by 5%. The stats can be  Health,  Stamina,  Oxygen,  Food,  Weight or  Melee Damage. 3 2.5%
King Slaying Increase damage done to Alphas and  Bosses by 5%, but reduce damage to everything else by 10%. 3 2.5% Damage increase.
Nocturnal Reduces  Stamina consumption during night time by 2.5%. 3 1.25%
Numb Damage taken by this Creature is reduced by 25%, but it gains a DoT that deals that 25% over the next 5 seconds. This DoT cannot be reduced by any means. 1
Protective Reduce rider damage taken by 15%. Persists for 10 seconds after dismounting. 2 7.5%
Quick Hitting Attack speed increased by 2.5%, but  Melee Damage reduced by 5%. 3 1.25% Attack speed, 2.5% Damage increase.
Slow Metabolism Reduce  Food consumption by 5%. This includes Food consumed to power abilities. 3 2.5%
Sprinter Stamina-drain from sprinting is decreased by 4%. 3 2%
Aquatic Swimming speed increased by 7.5%.  Oxygen drain while submerged reduced by 12.5%. Stamina-drain from swim-sprinting reduced by 4%. 3 3.75% Swim speed, 6.25%  Oxygen drain reduction, 2%  Stamina drain reduction.
Thick Skin This Creature gains incoming-damage reduction as  Health falls. Damage taken is reduced by 12.5% as health reaches 50-25%. 3 6.25%
Vampiric Gains 5% of damage dealt as  Health, determined by size (smaller Creatures get more). 1 2.5%
Warm Creature and its rider gain 40 Hypothermic Insulation. Reduces incoming damage from COLD attacks (ice-breath type stuff) by 5%. 3 20 Hyporthermic Insulation, 2.5% damage resistance.
