Single Player

Single Player is a Game Mode that allows Survivors to play ARK offline. All features of the online game are present, including mods and one-player Tribes. Screenshots taken via NVIDIA Ansel may only be captured in Single Player.

Commands

In Single Player mode you don't need to authorize yourself as an admin nor do you need a prefix like cheat or admincheat before the commands. Just type the bare command and its parameters after you opened the console with the Tab ↹ key. But it also works with the prefixes.

Saving

Single Player mode automatically saves every 15 minutes by default. To manually save, press Tab and enter:

Multiple Saves

Single Player mode does not support multiple save slots. Each separate map allows one save per map. But only DLC maps have their own directory and a separate character profile. However, by backing up the folders SavedArksLocal and LocalProfiles for The Island or respectively named folders for the DLCs, different saves can be loaded.

"Use Singleplayer Settings"

In the General tab of the Host/Local menu, there is an option to "Use Singleplayer Settings" that is enabled by default. When activated, some settings (e.g. difficulty) are optimized for single players and small groups (non-dedicated sessions). This option was introduced in 259.0. When activated, changes include increased earned engram points per level, increased XP gain, faster taming/breeding, and lessened XP requirements per level for players and Dinos. The intention behind this change was to soothe the Single Player and Non-Dedicated experience to make it more approachable for those playing in smaller groups. Of course, you don't have to have these settings on, but they will make a significant difference to your game! You can disable these changes by unchecking the box in your host options or by setting bUseSingleplayerSettings to False in the .ini.

Config Setting Changes

The changes to configuration values are made by applying an additional multiplier to configured (or default) numbers, or by overriding On/Off settings. Multipliers are applied on top of what the config is set to- for example, if Taming Speed is set to 2.0, enabling Use Singleplayer Settings will make the final value in game 2.0*2.5=5. Details for all configurable options can be found in Server configuration. The changes are shown below:

A Value ofini means that the default or already set option is scaled by the value in the Additional multiplier column, e.g.:

If BabyMatureSpeedMultiplier has not been set or left at default value of 1.0, with single player settings the final value would be 35.0.

If BabyMatureSpeedMultiplier has been set at 2.0 instead, with single player settings the final value would be 70.0.

Leveling Changes

When activated, Use Singleplayer Settings greatly lessens the required XP to level up player Characters and tamed Dinos, along with giving player characters more Engram points per level. Comparisons with and without Singleplayer Settings enabled can be seen in the tables below. Notably, if UseSingleplayerSettings is enabled on an already existing save, all Players and Tames will gain level ups according to the difference between the new and old level values for their current Total XP.

Notes

• You can create multiple survivors in one Single Player ARK, allowing you to learn all engrams in different characters, and do different jobs, eg. One character for crafting and harvesting, one for combat purposes.
  • You need to reach an Obelisk or a Tek Transmitter and upload the current survivor to change to another survivor you want to operate. Dying and spawning another survivor will DESTROY the previous one you were operating just like in Multi Player mode.
    • Uploading your character at an Obelisk or a Tek Transmitter will result in the destruction of your items. If you wish to keep items when uploading, either store them in a Storage Box or upload them in the Ark Data tab. Destroyed items are non-recoverable.
• On Single Player, you will not be warned that "up to 10 players can enter boss arenas".
  • Timers will not be used or shown for arenas and Tek Cave either.
• Some of the creatures may have different stats on Single Player than on Multi Player.
• All explorer notes give you a four times experience buff.
• Supply drops and etc. can't be used for transfer, only through obelisk terminal, city terminal.
