The Pheromone Dart is a type of Ammunition in ARK: Survival Evolved. It is unlocked at Level 90 for 60 Engram Points.

Used in the  Longneck Rifle, the Pheromone Dart makes those hit by it the target of all wild creatures around them for 30 seconds. Even otherwise passive or skittish creatures, such as  Parasaurs, will attack the target. Pheromone Darts are a highly effective way to draw in large amounts of creatures in places like Caves or distract enemy targets while the user makes a quick getaway.

Notes

  • If allowed to spoil, the Pheromone Dart will become a regular  Tranquilizer Dart.
  • The Pheromone Dart's spoil time is not affected by a  Preserving Bin or  Refrigerator.
  • In order to craft Pheromone Darts, one must harvest  Ammonite Bile from  Ammonites, which are found in the deep sea and in certain underwater caves. But be careful, attacking an Ammonite will draw the aggro of all nearby creatures.
  • Unless transferred from other servers, servers with no ocean such as Scorched Earth, Aberration, and Extinction will not have access to Ammonite Bile and thus will not be able to craft the Pheromone Dart.
  • The Pheromone Dart rage effect has a fairly large radius.
  • Pheromone Darts do not work on Bosses or boss minions.
  • Pheromone Darts are useful for getting  Troodons to attack high XP tames, such as baby  Wyverns, for taming purposes.
  • For those playing on singleplayer servers, Pheromone Darts are rarely useful.
  • When you see an enemy tribe taming rare creatures such as a  Quetzal or  Giganotosaurus, feel free to shoot the creature with a Pheromone Dart and watch the chaos ensue. The creatures attracted by the rage effect might even end up killing the enemy players. The possibilities for such kinds of mischief are endless!
