Ingredients
The Harpoon Launcher is one of the Weapons in ARK: Survival Evolved. It is unlocked at Level 43 for 38 Engram Points.
The Harpoon Launcher is a great weapon for underwater combat and taming, firing high-velocity, high-damaging Spear Bolts along with Torpor-inducing
Tranq Spear Bolts. It can also fire
Net Projectiles, making it great for trapping all but the largest creatures. However, the Spear Bolts and Tranq Spear Bolts fired from a Harpoon Launcher will not travel very far when out of water, making it useless on land unless loaded with Net Projectiles.
The Harpoon Launcher has 100 Durability.
Notes
- After firing bolts, it is possible to pick them back up (if they don't break).
- The Harpoon Launcher has a much higher range when fired underwater.
- Any target that is underwater receives x2.3 damage from
Spear Bolts launched from a harpoon.
- This item doesn't appear to be part of any supply beacons. This means outside of the Genesis simulation, they can only be primitive and end up being outperformed by high-quality (above 193% damage)
Crossbows, which are cheaper and more efficient.
- Spear Bolts loaded in Harpoon Launchers are smaller than ones loaded in
Ballista Turrets.
- Prior to Patch 330.8 fitting the Harpoon Launcher with Net Projectiles rendered it ineffective and unusable underwater, but effective on land.
