The Metal Shield is one of the shields in ARK: Survival Evolved. It is unlocked at Level 39 for 9 Engram Points.

Far stronger than its predecessor, the  Wooden Shield, the Metal Shield is a very useful mid-game item. When paired with a  Sword, it can be used to easily take down strong enemies, even  Rexes. However, the Metal Shield is extraordinarily heavy, making it more of a hinderance when used for activities other than combat.

The Metal Shield has 1,250 Durability.

The Metal Shield is superseded by the  Riot Shield.

Notes

• The Metal Shield obscures the user's visibility considerably when raised in first-person. Keep this in mind when dealing with multiple enemies.
• As of version 223.2, The Metal Shield does not take damage from  Grenades or  Rocket Propelled Grenades, the user still does though.
