The Longneck Rifle, often shortened to the Longneck, is one of the Weapons in ARK: Survival Evolved. It is unlocked at Level 35 for 18 Engram Points.
A powerful single-shot weapon, the Longneck Rifle deals the highest damage per shot out of any non-Tek gun in the game. It is highly effective at medium-to-long ranges, with its effective range increased even further with a Scope Attachment. However, its slow rate of fire and long reload time limits the Longneck's effectiveness in close-range combat.
In addition to firing Simple Rifle Ammo, the Longneck Rifle can also fire
Tranquilizer Darts and
Shocking Tranquilizer Darts, making it one of the best taming tools in the game. It can also fire
Pheromone Darts, making it useful for grouping up creatures together.
The Longneck Rifle has 70 Durability, costing 1 Durability per use, for a total of 70 uses.
The Longneck Rifle is superseded by the Fabricated Sniper Rifle.

Notes
- The Longneck Rifle sways when using a Scope Attachment. You can reduce this slightly by crouching and significantly by going prone. The sway cannot be eliminated entirely. A Longneck without a scope does not have any sway.
- While the Longneck Rifle has a base damage of 280, all creatures aside from Humans take only 70% damage from guns. This means that the Rifle only does 196 damage to creatures.
- The Longneck Rifle cannot be used underwater, making it ineffective for fighting or taming underwater creatures.
- When loaded with Tranquilizer Darts, Shocking Tranquilizer Darts, or Pheromone Darts, the Longneck Rifle cannot use any attachments.
Trivia
- The Longneck Rifle appears to be based on the Winchester High Wall Rifle, which was designed to fire large caliber rifle cartridges at big game animals in the later 1800s. It also bears a strong resemblance to the British Martini-Henry Rifle, which was also used in the later 1800s, both militarily and for hunting. Both of these rifles utilized a breech loaded (single shot), falling block action, just like in its game counterpart.
- The Longneck Rifle is missing the rear ladder type sight that was commonly used among sporting breech-loading rifles, and instead uses an open-styled sight.
