The Boomerang is one of the Weapons in ARK: Survival Evolved, being introduced in the Scorched Earth expansion pack. It is unlocked at Level 10 for 2 Engram Points.
The Boomerang functions similarly to the Spear, having both a melee attack (Lmb,
,
,
) and a ranged attack (Rmb,
,
,
). However, the Boomerang's primary function is to knock out targets, much like the
Wooden Club, dealing more Torpor than damage. This makes it a great early taming tool.
Unlike most other weapons, the Boomerang has no Durability, meaning it can be used a theoretically infinite number of times. However, the main drawback to this is that the Boomerang has a slight chance to break instantly when used, which can be very dangerous should it break mid-combat. As such, it is highly recommended to keep multiple Boomerangs in one's inventory until a better weapon can be obtained.
Notes
- The Boomerang is capable of knocking out an unarmored player in about 3 hits.
- The Boomerang inflicts more torpor with its ranged attack, meaning that using it in melee combat is generally not recommended.
- If the Boomerang hits a target, it will fly straight back to the user. If it does not hit a target, it will circle counterclockwise to the user.
- The user can not throw another Boomerang until the first one returns.
- The Boomerang can be used to gather resources from Trees and corpses.
- Aiming the Boomerang towards the ground when taming is a useful technique. The Boomerang will bounce off of the ground back to the user quickly rather than taking its normal course through the air.
Trivia
- The boomerang is a hunting tool originally made by the Aboriginal peoples of Australia.
