Basic info

Behavior

Forest Cobra is inhabiting Crater Forest, spawning more commonly near forest's boundaries on root-walls and cliffs. It won't attack unless provoked.

Appearance

Forest Cobra has an appearance akin to real-life cobra snakes, aside from blue element veins present on its hood. Its scales have three colors and sport a striped pattern with one color being present on thinner stripes, the second one covering wider stripes and vast majority of its back and third covering its head and underbelly.

Color Scheme and Regions

The Forest Cobra's range of its natural color scheme is unknown at this time, however its color regions are available. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Forest Cobra.

This information can be used to alter the Forest Cobra's regions by entering cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID> in the cheat console. For instance, cheat SetTargetDinoColor 1 6 would color the Forest Cobra's "" magenta.

Base Stats and Growth

Combat

General

Forest Cobra deals enough  Torpor to knock out survivor and doesn't have headshot multiplier like  Titanoboa. Do not fight it melee on foot.

Small Cobra doesn't deal torpor with damage and will flee instead of fighting back.

Strategy

Best way to kill a Forest Cobra is by fighting it with a tame that could endure its venom without being knocked-out or fighting it with ranged weaponry.  Stimberries and  Stimulant can be used to reduce torpor applied by the Cobra.

Small version can be easily fought on foot and killed with even a  Spear.

Weaponry

To fight the cobra, player should bring at least a  Crossbow. Cobras blend very well into Forest's surroundings when slithering, so anything that could improve its visibility, like  Tek Helmet will come in handy.

For smaller variant, even the cheapest, most primitive weapons will be sufficient.

Dangers

Normal Cobra's venom is pretty potent and can knock out its attacker in no time. Wear armor to reduce received torpor and don't let yourself get bitten.

Weakness

Cobras aren't the best creatures for fighting. Sure, they are smaller and don't receive headshot bonus damage, unlike Titanoboa, but their damage and health still aren't particularly high.

Taming

Normal Forest Cobra is tamed in the same manner as  Titanoboa, by eating fertilized eggs dropped by the player. It uses the same taming values, as vanilla snake, for each egg. Taming a Forest Cobra is much easier compared to Titanoboa, as it won't aggravate to the player, unless attacked, this makes taming much faster and not requiring traps,  Bug Repellant or dropping egg from a flyer.

Small Forest Cobra, on the other hand, is tamed by feeding it eggs, fertilized or not, and has different taming values than the normal variant.

The effectiveness of each vanilla and mod's egg in taming was tested on a level 150 Small Forest Cobra on 3x taming speed, results are as follows:
