Defense Unit or Reworked Defense Unit is a new variant of Defense Unit added in Fixed Extinction.
Basic info
Behavior
Reworked Defense Unit replaces normal Sanctuary Defense Unit on Fixed Extinction. It doesn't attack other creatures nor react to player being targeted by wild Scouts. When provoked, it rolls to its target at speeds that player can't overcome by simply pumping points into Movement Speed and slashes its blades quickly and aggressively, unlike vanilla's iterations.
Appearance
Reworked Defense Unit maintains its spherical, Droideka-inspired look with added color regions for body lighting.
Color Scheme and Regions
The Defense Unit's range of its natural color scheme is unknown at this time, however its color regions are available. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Defense Unit.
This information can be used to alter the Defense Unit's regions by entering cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID>
in the cheat console. For instance, cheat SetTargetDinoColor 1 6
would color the Defense Unit's "" magenta.

Combat
General
Once aggravated, Defense Unit will chase down its attacker until death or until its target stops fighting. Defense Unit will quickly close distance with its attacker and start dishing out damage with its claws.
Strategy
Running away with a Bow works most of the time. Remember to pump some levels to Movement Speed, as while it may not allow to outrun the robot, it allows to shoot the target and run away, avoiding most of its attacks, when player can't shoot from an unreachable elevation.
In early game, when no tames are available, one can try to lure aggressive creatures to the robot and weaken it.
Weaponry
Any armor, even Cloth Armor, is highly advised, due to Defender's high base damage output, which makes level 1 Defense Unit able to three-shot survivors with no health levels.
Dangers
Defense Unit, while being pretty early-game creature, has high health scaling, bleeding and armor-piercing attacks, that make this creature something you prefer to not tank.
Weakness
Defense Unit doesn't make its move first, which allows to take action first and immobilize it.
It's also prone to missing attacks, making shoot and run strategies viable.
Taming
Unassembled Defense Unit blueprint can be found in dead Defense Unit's inventory. Use it to craft a random level Defense Unit of your own.
Utility
Abilities
- Performs a claw attack with left or right claw (depends where player's camera is pointing at) for 35 base damage.
- Does a 5-hit claw attack flurry, that deals 12 base damage and inflicts Deinonychus' bleed effect.
C - Does a claw smash that has armor-piercing capabilities and deals 60 base damage.
Defense Unit doesn't take fall damage.
Roles
- Transport: Defense Unit has pretty good base weight and speed that is comparable Managarmr's. You can use it as a Gasbags alternative with more combat capabilities and even create an entire convoy of them.
- War mount: Defense Unit has armor piercing attack and bleed-inducing flurry, both of which have good damage and are spammable. It also has some pure PVP value, covering its rider pretty well from Sniper Rifle shots or flyers that could potentially pick the rider off their tame. Unfortunately, it doesn't posess any additional corrupted creature damage.
- Travel: With Reworked Defender's damage and attacks and speed for fleeing from attackers, survivor can safely roll around the map most of the time.

Notes/Trivia
