The Cryofridge stores and charges Cryopods and allows them to last forever when powered. Can be powered either by a
Tek Generator, a
Wind Turbine or
Electrical Generator.
Usage
A Cryofridge can be placed on any foundation structure or just directly on the ground similar to troughs and Tek Generators. Placing Cryofriges directly on ground will allow to take full advantage of their long decay time, as well it will avoid their automatic demolition if the support structure is destroyed.
Once powered, a Cryofridge will charge any stored Cryopod at the same speed of discharge: this mean a Cryopod can take up to 30 real time days to get fully charge if it was a dead Cryopod (a Cryopod without charge). Putting a dead Cryopod inside a Cryofridge will not resurrect any tame it was containing before losing the charge.
When a tame is Cryofrozen in a powered Cryofridge, the Creature will gain more passive XP, gaining approximately 75 XP per hour.
Cryopods charge computation
Cryopods charge is calculated when the Cryofridge is opened. As such, if it is currently not powered and it was last opened over 30 days, all the creatures within it will be dead despite how much time the Cryopod was unpowered. This would kill all tames inside the Cryopods without any chance to resurrect them. Thus, it is highly recommended to make sure a Cryofridge is powered before opening it.
At the same time, it is possible to restore the charge of all Crypods inside a Cryofridge if this was never open before powering it up again, even if the Cryofridge was unpowered more than 30 days or just more the than what the Cryopods would require to get lose their charge.
Notes
- The decay timer (on servers that have this enabled) is longer for tek structures than most others. For long absences from a base with a Cryofridge, one solution is to place a
Tek Generator and Cryofridge(s) on the natural ground instead of on a structure as any foundation structure will decay before the Cryofridge does.
- The Cryofridge was once an Extinction-exclusive engram. This was changed with the release of Valguero, where it became accessible in all maps. Since the 298.3 it's possible to craft Cryofridges in an
Obelisk,
Supply Crate,
Loot Crate, or in a
Deep Sea Loot Crate.
- It is not possible to store Cryofridges inside a
Tek Dedicated Storage.
- In
ARK: Survival Ascended the crafting requirements were reduced to 12
Crystal, 7
Electronics, 115
Metal Ingot, 30
Polymer
- The Cryofridge is treated as a Tek structure and can only be damaged by
Explosives, the
Tek Rifle,
Tek Saddles, an
Arthropluera, a
Titanosaur,
Corrupted Creatures,
Enraged Creatures,
Titans,
Bosses, or the
DodoRex.
