The Tree Sap Tap can be used to obtain  Sap.

Placement

The tap has to be attached to a mature redwood tree (i.e. the ones with the deep bark) in the Redwood Forests. It must be installed below the canopy, and fairly high up (at least 11 units above ground).

To reach the tap for harvesting, a survivor must either stand on a dismounted Quetz, a Tree Platform, a Griffin, a Wyvern, a ladder, mounted on some walls, or with the grappling hook.

Sap Gathering

Each tap will automatically collect up to a maximum of 30  Sap over a long period (ex.6 hours), the maximum quantity can also be affected by the stack multipliers of the server configuration. Multiple taps may be attached to a single tree.

The tap will collect 1  Sap approximately every 10 minutes 20 seconds.

Each tap will automatically collect up to a maximum of 20  Sap over a long period (ex.4 hours). Multiple taps may be attached to a single tree. The tap will collect 1  Sap approximately every 10 minutes 20 seconds. The Sap Tap will not start producing sap until a player opens its inventory for the first time after placing it. Attaching  Amargasaurus Spike to the tap will increase its productivity, both from speed and how much it can produce.

Notes

  • If taps must be hidden, choosing a tree whose trunk is obscured by younger saplings is required; this may be desired as the metal taps double as an unobtrusive land-claim mechanism.
  • Taps may be unlocked as a public service.
  • If there are multiple taps on a single tree, each tap will collect sap at a rate which is 1 / [# of Taps on tree] times the normal rate. For example if there are 2 Taps on the tree, the collection rate for each tap will be 1/2 the normal rate. This means that the overall sap collection rate for the tree is the same regardless of how many taps are attached, however multiple taps will increase available storage for sap on that tree (x20 per tap).
  • There is a bug on  ARK: Survival Evolved where the Tree Sap Tap may not collect sap until the tap inventory has been opened at least once.
