- Wild
Xiphactinus Velox is a frighteningly fast creature, lurking in the Islands' oceans. Most often appearing in groups, Xiphactinus can quickly overwhelm its' victims. They have been observed to grab smaller prey in their terrifying jaws and thrash wildly to deplete their energy. When subdued, they will proceed to swallow the prey whole, something I have witnessed befall many unfortunate survivors. Beware Xiphactinus that have recently fed, as they will become frenzied from the clouds of bled they've created! For targets too large to be swallowed by its horrific maw, Xiphactinus will briefly grab their target and proceed to tear off a chunk of flesh, causing the target to begin bleeding out. On several occassions, I've noticed Xiphactinus will attack other Ocean species such as Megalodon, and even larger threats such as Mosasaur! Be glad that you're not their only target!
- Domesticated
Xiphactinus aren't very sturdy, but in groups they can cause some considerable damage and pretty effortlessly overwhelm an opponent with speed. If not used for combat, Xiphactinus are perfectly suited for quick navigation around the Islands waters as well. I will reiterate, however, the importance of leading a group of Xiph!
Appearance
The Xiphactinus is a large, colorful fish with a long body and many rows of long razor sharp teeth. The Xiphactinus resembles a large barracuda but with a much shorter piranha-like head. The abyssal variant of the Xiphactinus has two lures that emit light, and a bioluminescent patterning.
Color Scheme and Regions
Behavior
The Xiphactinus speeds around the ocean in packs, viciously devouring anything in sight.
Abilities
- - This key triggers a simple bite. When the Xiphactinus grabs a creature, this key triggers a thrash.
- - This key triggers a lunge that allows the Xiphactinus to grab creatures under a drag weight of 210. If the Xiphactinus hits a target larger than this, it will proceed to rip pieces of flesh from the victim. This causes the victim to acquire the Gashed debuff.
- Space - This key causes the Xiphactinus to leap forward while flopping on land.
Combat
This section describes how to fight against the Xiphactinus.
With their agility and ability to thrash around and effectively dismount they can exploit the turning radius and even submerge flyers such as the Pelagornis

Utility
Alpha Killer - Due to its bleed effect when attacking bigger creatures, amazing speed, and its reasonable regen (amazing regen with feeding frenzy), its amazing for killing water alphas. As long as the player dodges frequently.
Thrasher - The Xiphactinus can grab creatures, proceeding to thrash their prey before swallowing it whole. This creates a large cloud of blood, which the Xiphactinus can enter to trigger a Blood Frenzy buff. The following is a list of all creatures that can be grabbed by the Xiphactinus.
