Basic Info
- Appearance
The palaeophis is a species of marine snake that still has remnants of hind legs. Their tail is slightly compressed compared to the cross-section of the rest of its body, becoming almost flipper-like.
I have considered adding frills/fins (left) to help improve the silhouette versus titanoboa.
- Encounter
Despite being comparable in size to their terrestrial brethren, the Titanoboa, the Paleophis are much less prone to picking fights. However, when hungry or confronted, they will attempt to constrict their target and win by a battle of attrition.
Aside from a random encounter in the ocean, the most reliable location to find Palaeophis is on the shores where they lay their eggs - where the young often prey upon young Archelon and Carbonemys who hatch from the same sands.
Domestication
- Taming
The Palaeophis is tamed similarly to the Wyvern: by stealing Fertilized Eggs found in the wild and raising the hatchling. As with the Wyvern, the Palaeophis' food depletes much more slowly than other babies and it will Want Feeding every 3-4 hours instead of the usual care (providing Imprint Bonus and restoring Food).
Baby Palaeophis will only consume Fertilized Eggs, although it will not request any specific type. The amount of Food a Fertilized Egg will restore is proportional (or exactly) the base health of creature (e.g. 210 from a Fertilized Pteranodon Egg), while the Imprint Bonus gained is irrelevant of the egg type.
The babies will still consume food from their inventory whenever hungry, although its worth noting the weight of eggs versus what the baby can carry. Feeding in this may be necessary if using low quality eggs for imprinting, or are late for a session. The baby will Want Feeding every 3-4 hours regardless of its actual hunger, but when using high quality eggs it is possible to raise a to maturation Palaeophis using only the Want Feeding sessions.

- Usage
- - Bite
- - Constrict. This attack entangles the target, preventing them from moving. This attack constantly drains the Palaephis' stamina while attack.
- W - Capable of moving forward. Turns using facing direction.
- Real-time Cursor Rotation.
- Roles
- Aquatic Mount - While not the fastest ocean mount, the Palaeophis is the only creature with full-sphere rotational movement that cannot drown. Does not use Stamina to swim.
- Combat/Taming Aide - The constrict ability can be used to hold prey still, either for taming or for killing with a more damaging mount.
