Encounter

Similar to the Deathworm, the Megatalpidae is encountered as a mound of rumbling dirt. They cannot be interacted with while in the ground except by a tamed Megatalpidae, but are highly aggressive and will erupt from the ground when an enemy is nearby. Unlike the Deathworm, the Megatalpidae can move around above the ground as well but loses interest very quickly.

Domestication

The Megatalpidae is capable of burrowing, moving just beneath the surface similar to this modded creature. While moving beneath the ground, movement will only be obstructed by deep rocks and foundations; with trees being uprooted. I have no decided if this should harvest the trees, or simply be a visceral thing - like a stampeding giga. Similar to the Deathworm, a patch of disturbed dirt is all the signifies a burrowed Megatalpidae.

  • RMB.svg - Swipe
  • WS - Capable of moving forward and backward. Turns using facing direction, with the same turning circle as the Mammoth.
  • SPACE - Burrow / Unburrow
    • While burrowing, the turning circle is comparable to the Gigantopithecus.
Roles
  • Burrowing Mount - Moving beneath the ground affords a player full invisibility from aggression. Players and player carried dinos utilise Oxygen while burrowed.
  • Combat Mount - Slow, but as with other mammals it's durable and has high damage.
  • Bush/Corpse Gathering
  • Insulation - The Megatalpidae provides 55 Cold.pngHypothermic and Hot.pngHyperthermic insulation, which decreases based on your distance from it.
