Nepenthes are relatively harmless to all but the island's insects, although the likelihood of nearby swarms is a danger to note. Resembling a upturned bell, the Nepenthes is filled with a fluid of its own production that it uses to drown its prey - a syrupy fluid that remains viable even when diluted by rain water. The name "Monkey's coffin" comes from the not-uncommon finding of meat and animal remains within the plant's belly, which I've premised is due syrupy taste of the plant's fluid attracting mesopithecus to their untimely demise.
Their syrup and colorful visage continuously attracts insects, making them a useful emplacement for a swamp or woodland base that desires a reprieve from insect swarms. While not a particularly large container, nepenthes holds a supply of water that, when mixed with its own syrup, makes for a nutritious drink. While its "lid" is open, it will continuously attract, kill and harvest insects.

- Mature Nepenthes passively produce bug-attractant, which attracts
Meganeura, 
Titanomyrma and 
Mesopithecus. - Nepenthes will instantly kill and harvest insects that come in range, gathering meat and chitin in similar quantities to the Sabertooth.
- Can be put to sleep to disable the bug-attractant and offensive features.
- Passively produces 1 Chitin and 1 Raw Meat every 60 seconds. Production of Chitin is disabled once 300 is within its inventory, and Raw Meat while there is 100.
- Passively produces Sweet Syrup, up to 100.
- Sweet Syrup can be bottled into a Water Jar and provides Water and Health when consumed.
- Passively provides a 400x spoil multiplier to consumables within its inventory.
- As with other crop plots, only seeds and fertilizer can be placed within the crop plot, so the spoil multipler is only applied to things it gathers personally.
