Wild

The Archelon is a large and graceful turtle, which wandered seagrass fields and the open ocean, feeding on the flora and defending itself and its brethren from predators. While fairly strong, many carnivores still decide to battle it. Interestingly, it is unfazed by jellyfish and their stings, and consumes their toxins, which it somehow processes into a healing substance for itself.

Domesticated

Archelon is somewhat shy when confronted nonviolently, and cautious of those who approach it. Being near them long enough, they may gain trust in you. They seem even less perturbed when you are doing something rather than staring at it, and busying yourself crafting or harvesting. Once comfortable with your presence, fully gain its trust with food it enjoys.

Archelons shell, while not as tough as a carbonemys, is still very strong, making it a rather strong armored mount. However the reason most tribes domesticate Archelon are for its oily healing secretions. While the biotoxin only helps itself heal, some other substances have been found to have varying healing properties, including the ability to heal others.

In addition to this healing ability, the Archelon can use its powerful beak to harvest chitin, stone, and even metal, making it an extremely useful mount. To make it even better, the extra weight doesn’t seem to affect its ability to swim, effectively reducing the weight of these materials.

Appearance

Medichelon is a large gracefull sea turtle. It's often found in bales(a group of turtles).

Color Scheme and Regions

The Archelon's range of its natural color scheme is unknown at this time, however its color regions are available. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Archelon.

This information can be used to alter the Archelon's regions by entering cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID> in the cheat console. For instance, cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6 would color the Archelon's "top shell color" magenta.

Wild Stats Level-up

Type in values of a wild creature to see on which stats it's emphasized. Green values on a high-level creature are very good for breeding. If you have already tamed your creature you can try to recover the breeding stats with an external tool.[1]

Oceania/Medichelon

The stat-calculator does not work in the mobile-view, see here for alternatives: Apps

Note that after the creature is tamed it gets bonuses on some stats depending on the taming effectiveness. This makes it hard to retrieve the levels on a tamed creature, so this tool is only for wild ones, but gives a first impression, how well the stats are distributed.

Combat

This section describes how to fight against the Medichelon.

General

Medichelon is often found in large packs of 3-5 and has strong bites.

Strategy

Its best to take care of Medichelon with a strong dino, or on land, or with a Orkronosaurus pack, which Medichelon is weak to.

Weaponry

Medichelon is well armored, and is not very weak to ranged weapons, and may take lots of hits, strong weapons recommended.

Dangers

Their large numbers and crushing bite can quickly drain health, and they tend to attract attention of carnivorous water creatures that can further harm you.

Weakness

Medichelon has a slower turn radius and takes more damage from Orkronosaurus. Additionally, on land, Medichelon is very slow, unable to use its crushing bite, and can be defeated much easier.

Drops

Taming

The Medichelon is tamed passive taming. To feed it, place  Bio Toxin or other taming food  Berries in your last hotbar slot, go up to the Medichelon, and press 'e'.

Preferred Food

Utility

Jellyfish killer - Is immune to jellyfishes adverse effects, and harvests the with its crushing bite
Healer - Its diverse healing ablilitys can be used to heal your own tames, wild creatures, or stop others from healing.
Stone/Metal/Flint/Sand ect. harvester - Its crushing jaws can harvest stone resources.
Transport - High health and weight values, decent water speed, and able to cross land if need be, and its weight reduction on stone based resources make it a good creature to transport resources, and travel.
Tank Large health pool and extra armored shell can make it useful for soaking turrets and generally being strong.
Anit-heal Its Oil healing ability can stop unallied creatures from being able to heal via other Medichelons.

Controls

  • Left - This key triggers a simple bite.

Notes/Trivia

For information pertaining specifically to the real-world Archelon, see the relevant Wikipedia article.

  • Medichelon originally only had Biotoxin as a healing substance.
  • Medichelon was originally called Archelon, but was modified to avoid conflicts with  Archelon (Mod:ARK Additions)
