The Nidisheim Depths is a region in the Fjordur DLC.

Overview

This cave has an underwater phase, an upward climb through an air shaft, a large room that you must fight through to get to the maze where you will use your wits to avoid pits and traps, enter in combinations to open doors to get to the Artifact!

Cave Walkthrough

The cave entrance is located underwater. Shortly after entering the cave, you will swim up into an air pocket to start making your way through the cave.

Upon exiting the water, there is a long trip straight up that you must make to enter the next part of the cave.

After you complete the climb, you will enter a large chamber where many dangerous creatures are blocking your path across the room to the small archway on the other side.

At this point, you will have entered the maze. The maze can be broken up into 2 sections that each require you to find 4 different colored statues that each have a number located near them that indicates the order that the buttons at the end of each section must be pressed to open the door. If the buttons are not pressed in the correct order a trap will cause several  Arthropluera and  Araneo to be dropped into the chamber. Beware pressure plates on the ground and instant death pitfalls as you traverse the maze.

Dangers

  • Creature levels can be up to 300 in this cave.
  • Lava
  • Spike/arrow traps
  • Instant death pit traps

Recommended tames

  •  Shadowmane can be used to get to the cave and also can help you after you climb the shaft.
  •  Rock Drake can also be used to get safe and stealthy through the water part and up the shaft.
  •  Desmodus fly up the shaft and skip all land-based wild dinos in cave.
  •  Deinonychus small and strong enough to help through the maze.
  • Although not spawning on Fjordur, if one manages to bring a  Sinomacrops to the maze it’s incredibly helpful because it can just fly over all traps and dangers.

Recommended gear

  •  SCUBA Tank is not required but can help survivors get to the underwater cave entrance and up to the air pocket.
  •  Medical Brew to recover any lost health.
  •  Calien Soup keep player cool.
  •  Crossbow with  Grappling Hook to get up the long shaft at the beginning of the cave. WILL NOT WORK IN MAZE
  • Melee weapon such as a  Pike to free yourself from any  Desmodus that may pick you up.
  •  Flak Armor with spare set in case you get hit by  Arthropluera spit attack.
  •  TEK Chestpiece support the survivor in avoiding pitfalls and other traps.
