The Frozen Fortress is a region in the Fjordur DLC.

Overview

This cave has a mostly straight-forward path to follow to get to the artifact. Upon entry, the cave opens up to allow larger tames into the cave. In the main part of the cave, you can jump off the main path to get several drops in/near the water below but will not be able to walk back up from there. A tame that can jump or a Desmodus is recommended to go after these drops. There is one path to follow that will take you through some smaller archways requiring either a smaller tame or to cryo your larger tames. Past the main chamber, you will find a series of jumps along the path before you find the artifact. Failing to make any of these jumps will result in instant-death in the pits below.

Dangers

Creatures in the cave can spawn at levels higher than the base server difficulty. On Official settings, expect to see creatures up to level 500 in the cave.

Cave is very cold. Bring warm fur gear and anything else to help keep you warm during exploration.

Do note that Purlovia can (and likely will) spawn in this cave. It is recommended to bring some means to avoid them or flush them out. After the narrow entrance, it is possible to uncryo larger creatures; one strategy would be to use a Yutyrannus for their fear roar (not to be confused with the courage roar, this is a different button/function), as it will force any purlovias in hiding to immediately attack the Yuty, as opposed to hiding and dismounting the player by surprise.
