When gathering from small trees on Scorched Earth, Wood is gathered like Berries (see efficiency table on the Berries page).

The following creatures reduce the weight of Wood by the listed amount while it is in their inventory:

Though some dinos gather Berries more efficiently than others, the main thing about Berry collecting dinos is their ability to instanty harvest plants. This alone makes dinos like the Ankylosaurus a decent berry tame. Especially the Parasaur is quite a fast mount, which can be handy for Berry collecting.

Rare Mushroom
Gathering
Large amounts of Rare Mushrooms can be found by chopping mangrove trees within the swamp or from Giant Beaver Dams. They also rarely drop when mining Crystal.
In Scorched Earth, Rare Mushrooms can be found while mining Crystals and rarely when using the Whip or Morellatops / Ankylosaurus on purple flowers.
The Roll Rat on Aberration can also gather them in large quantities from the Hallucinogen mushrooms.
( Related information about the Daeodon is no longer viable since unknown patch version. )

Crystal
Gathering
Crystal are best gathered with a metal pick or with certain creatures; stone picks can work but provide a very low drop chance. It can be acquired by mining white crystals. White crystals are the primary source which can be mined, stalactites in caves also provide crystal. Some others are just decorative. An even better way to gather crystal is the lunar biome on genesis by harvesting the crystal bushes with a Bronto, this can be boosted even more with a mate on a Deinonychus, because a Deinonychus can jump equally how much weight the rider has. You can also use a Magmasaur, Anky, Tek Stryder, and many other dinosaurs to harvest white crystals as well. The Stryder, while not having the greatest collection rate, is the best resource collector in general due to being able to connect to dedicated storage boxes in your base and send resources back to them from anywhere on the map.

Metal
Gathering
Metal can be gathered most efficiently using an Ankylosaurus, which also offers a 85% weight reduction of metal when in its inventory, or by using a metal pick. When at mastercraft or ascendant tier, the metal pick is reported to gather just as much metal per metal spawn as the Ankylosaurus.
Below is a list of creatures and tools that can be used to gather metal.

Please note that the Doedicurus is not able to gather obsidian from all of the typically black glossy rocks. For instance, it can gather obsidian from the rocks in the caldera of the volcano on The Island map, but not from the rocks on the last part of the way up to the caldera. On The Center map it can't gather from the rocks on the shores of the lake under the floating island or in the mouth of Skull Island.

Oil
Gathering
Oil can be mined with either a Stone Pick or a Metal Pick in the ocean. The Stone Pick yields 0-1 oil per oil node, while the Metal Pick yields 0-10 oil per oil node. Besides using tools it is also possible to use a Ankylosaurus or Dunkleosteus to mine oil very effectively.
Oil (Tusoteuthis) is gathered from the inventory of dead Tusoteuthis and slowly accumulates in the inventory of a tamed Tusoteuthis or Basilosaurus.

When harvesting a corpse without a dino, using a Chainsaw is the most effective tool to use. Hide can also be harvested with a Metal Hatchet or Pick. See the chart below for the most effective ways to harvest Hide.
