3 Can be enabled via INI Config

The Cnidaria has reworked stun mechanics, influenced by the creatures drag weight to be more balanced. They can be found in random sizes, emit colourful light, and generate  Bio Toxin when tamed.

Appearance

Cnidaria can be found in sizes ranging from 0.1x to 2.0x, with a very rare chance to find a 3.0x. They can be found in a huge variety of vibrant colours, ranging primarily through blues and yellows, with some green magenta and light purple in some regions. The Aberrant variant has brighter spots on the top of its body, and the X-Cnidaria has pulsing spots. They ripple from the top of the body down each tentacle, and move faster when they are attacking and moving. They spawn with primarily blues and purples, and their body can be coloured in blacks, greys, and extremely dark blues.

Color Scheme and Regions

Behavior

NU Cnidaria have a much lower targeting range than vanilla- exactly half. They naturally wander around, and can be configured to not attack unless attacked first, to prevent their wandering, and to alter both their targeting range and the range they alert other Cnidaria of survivors and tames. After being fed, they will not attack for 30 seconds unless attacked, which can also be disabled with configuration.

Abilities

The Cnidaria have a reworked stun from the vanilla version. The duration of their stun buff is now determined by the receiving creature's drag weight - the larger a dino, the less time it spends stunned. Additionally, large dinos (300+ drag weight) will no longer have their rider dismounted when stung. The interval they use their attack can be altered in the INI, and they can also be set to use the vanilla version of the stun instead. If enabled with configs, 3.0 Cnidaria will be able to charge up a large AoE stun, which has a long cooldown but has a higher range of effect.

Base Stats and Growth

Cloning

Combat

Ranged weaponry such as a  Crossbow should be used if on a small mount, especially those below 300 drag weight, which will not prevent rider dismount. If on a larger mount, less caution is needed due to the effects of the stun being lower the larger the creature is.

Drops

Taming

Cnidaria are tamed non-violently, rather than through the usual methods. Cnidaria prefer to eat Simple Kibble, with typical carnivore meat preferences otherwise. After each feed, they will be passive for 30 seconds, unless attacked (which can be disabled with INI config). There is a chance they will land an attack before each feed, so bring  Medical Brew,  Stimulant, and a mount to eat on to deal with their damage and torpor. If enabled in the INI, they can also be tamed with the  Fish Basket, but be aware that this results in the same bugs as all Fish Basket tames, and they do not gain taming effectiveness.

Utility

Base Lighting: Cnidaria (even vanilla ones) naturally emit light. On the NU Cnidaria, their lights are colored based on their colour regions- 3 for normal and 5 for X. Light intensity can be toggled from the radial wheel options. This can create pretty effects and a much more interesting way to light an open base near water

Bio-Toxin Farm: Cnidaria generate Bio Toxin in their inventories. Size determines the rate of generation, and wandering is not required by default

Patch Changes

Notes/Trivia

  • Cnidaria do not have a natural size range between 2.0x and 3.0x - 3.0x itself is separate from everything else with an extremely low weight.
  • Tamed Cnidaria can be moved with a Fish Basket
