Heat meter
The Edestus has a heat meter, which can go from 0 all the way to 100. The heat meter can be increased by giving the Edestus fuel, which it will passively consume on its own. You can also force-feed the fuel using X, long press , long press .

Live Furnace
The Edestus's inventory works as both a Campfire and Refining Forge, though only when its heat meter is above 25. The Edestus will process Metal into Metal Ingot, Oil and Hide into Gasoline and any kind of Meat into their cooked variant.
Saddle Rider Oxygen
The Edestus Saddle supplies the rider with Oxygen.
Taming
For general info about domesticating a wild creature see Taming.
KO Strategy
Edestus can be knocked out in a similar manner to Megalodon, simply keep your distance while firing tranquilizers at it. A fast aquatic mount that allows rider weaponry can aid in this process, as an Edestus can catch up to a survivor without SCUBA Flippers.
Preferred Food
Combat
This section describes how to fight against Edestus.
General
While wild Edestus won't use their ram and charge attacks, they can still pose a threat because of their decent Health and Damage output. They don't tend to aggro until you get relatively close, so try to stay further away from them.
Strategy
Because Edestus have decently high Health and Damage output, it is recommended to use a creature that can take a beating and deal enough damage, like Mosasaurus or Tusoteuthis.
Weaponry
Ranged weapons that work underwater are a good choice to avoid getting too close to Edestus, as well as using an aquatic creature that allows mounted weaponry and is fast enough to outswim it.
Utility
Roles
- Living Forge/ Campfire: Because Edestus can smelt Metal, create Gasoline and cook Meat in its inventory, it can be used as a living Campfire/ Forge.
Notes/ Trivia

- Edestus magmalorica translates into "Devouring Magma Carapace".
