The Saurichthys is a species of fish in  ARK: The Sunken World.

Basic Info

Behaviour

Saurichthys is a usually solitary creature that patrols the surface waters of the sunken world. Much like the  Kaprosuchus of the Island, it won't hesitate to ambush you and pull you to an untimely death.

Appearance

Saurichthys superficially resembles a gigantic, elongated alligator gar. Its snout is thin and long, filled with many sharp conical teeth. The rest of its body is long and thin, and tapers to a large shark-like tail fin.

The Reef Saurichthys is the normal Saurichthys you commonly find throughout the surface waters.

Hadal Saurichthys

An abyssal variant of Saurichthys, called Hadal Saurichthys, is planned for the future. It will be larger and require a saddle to ride.

Boosted Sea Scale Harvesting

The Saurichthys harvests more  Sea Scales than other creatures.

Harvest Filter

From the radial wheel menu, the player can choose a harvest filter for their Saurichthys. The options for this harvest focus are  Raw Fish Meat, and  Sea Scales . Choosing a harvest filter means the Saurichthys will gather only that specific resource. Using the  Raw Fish Meat filter also prevents  Raw Prime Fish Meat from being gathered.

KO Strategy

Because Saurichthys has a relatively low torpidity, it doesn't need a lot of tranquillizers to knock out, but because of its speed and agility, it can be hard to hit it. It is recommended to let it grab you and shoot it while it's carrying you around.

Combat

This section describes how to fight against Saurichthys.

General

Saurichthys encounters can easily be deadly if there are stronger creatures around it. It can snatch you off your mount and allow other creatures to more easily kill you.

Strategy

If you have a fast mount, you can try to dodge the attack, though this can prove difficult because of Saurichthys speed and agility. Due to their low Health stat, a strong mount might be able to kill it before it can grab you.

Weaponry

A strong melee weapon, such as a pike or sword can allow you to quite easily kill Saurichthys after it once it grabs you.
