Taming
For general info about domesticating a wild creature see Taming.
Taming Strategy
Henodus is tamed by hand-feeding rather than through the use of tranquilizers. To feed one you will need to place an appropriate food in the far-right slot of your hotbar and get close enough to the creature for the button prompt to appear. Henodus will take one piece of the food from your inventory and will play an eating animation. You must wait for the creature's hunger to go back down before it can be fed again, a process which takes some time, depending on the level and the food. Because of its flat shell, you can easily stand on the Henodus while you wait for its hunger to go down, but do keep in mind you will be left behind if it fully submerges in water.
Preferred Food
Combat
This section describes how to fight against Henodus.
General
Henodus is usually very docile and will not attack unless provoked.
Strategy
While Henodus moves pretty fast underwater, it is very slow on land. Since its shell is very flat, you can stand on its back. If you stand on its back near the tail, Henodus is unable to hit you and killing it should be pretty easy. Creatures are also able to stand on its back, allowing creatures to make use of the same weakness.
Weaponry
Any melee weapon will allow you to quite easily kill Henodus if you manage to get on its back.
Utility
With its Lmb, , , attack, it can collect Seaweed .
With its Rmb, , , burrow ability, it can allow players to stay underwater indefinitely and take reduced damage.
Roles
- Mobile Base: with its ability to burrow and create Oxygen and the fact you can build on its shell, Henodus makes a great mobile (underwater) base. (Level Health).
- Living Raft: because it moves faster than a Wooden Raft and doesn't attract Leedsichthys, it can make a very good living raft. (Level Health and Stamina).
- Seaweed Gatherer: Henodus is the only creature capable of gathering Seaweed from underwater plants, making it an excellent mount for gathering Seaweed .
- Early Game Underwater Mount: with its ability to create Oxygen, you can theoretically stay underwater indefinitely. This, paired with its decent speed and the fact that it's a passive tame that requires no saddle makes it a good early game underwater mount.
- Underwater Breeding Helper: putting a burrowed Henodus near your underwater creatures when you're breeding them allows you to stay underwater indefinitely near them because of the Oxygen the Henodus creates.
