DietCarnivore
TemperamentAggressive
- Wild
Eccentric and agile carnivores, Galvarex can be found frequently stalking through colder climates. Their usage of bioelectricity allows them to keep themselves at a comfortable internal temperature, which allows their survival in frigid temperatures. Prolonged combat may result in spikes of bioelectricity surging through their bodies, amplifying their speed and ferocity for a time. When this period ends, the Galvarex becomes exceptionally sluggish before perking up again soon after a quick breather.
- Domesticated
A tamed Galvarex can prove to be one of the most indispensable creatures for any tribe that frequently finds themself on the move. With the help of its bio-electric surges, tortuous terrain can be cleared quickly and with ease. Additionally, with its charged attacks Galvarex can put a hurting on its enemies as if its jaws and claws were twice their size! On top of that, a successful 'Tantrum' attack while Galvanized will re-invigorate the Galvarex's fighting spirit. Though, be careful not to bite off more than you can chew - you are left extremely vulnerable once the buzz wears off.
Behavior
Galvarex like to hunt prey around the colder areas of the maps. While in combat, each hit the Galvarex deals will rile it up bit by bit, adding an amount of Excitement to a meter. Hitting targets provides ~5 points of Excitement, maxing out at 100. After filling the meter, the Galvarex can pump it's body full of electricity and give itself the Galvanized buff, giving it increased movement speed, attack speed, and access to more powerful attacks akin to the strength of a Rex!
Appearance
The Galvarex's unnatural appearance suggests that it is not a creature native to the ARKs, possessing 4 glowing eyes, a large frill, and a large crest at the base of the tail. It is similar in size to an Allosaurus, while possessing a streamlined frame built for running at high speeds.

Combat
General
Galvarex may be on the smaller side of large theropods, though that doesn't mean they can't be dangerous. Their speed allows them to close the distance between your face and theirs fairly quickly, and being caught unprepared could prove fatal.
Strategy
When fighting a Galvarex, it is recommended to be safely on the back of a mount. Ensure that your creature is able to kill it fairly quickly, because if the fight lasts too long, the scales may be tipped out of your favor by the Galvanize ability. Allowing the Galvarex to tire out after the usage of its ability leaves it incredibly vulnerable, providing ample time to rush it or run away.
Weaponry
While the use of a creature is recommended, a ranged weapon, such as a Pump-Action Shotgun, could dispatch of a Galvarex from a distance before it became an issue.
Dangers
While it's primary arsenal of tooth and claw may not be the most fearsome, a Galvarex under the effects of a Galvanized boost is a force to be reckoned with. It's damage potential gets raised exponentially, with its attacks becoming fast bursts of high damage. Additionally, it is recommended to avoid a Galvarex's "Tantrum" attack, a large slam preceeded by 2 small hops. The attack not only deals massive damage, but also resets the Galvarex's Excitement meter!

Taming Method
In most circumstances, a Galvarex is unable to recieve any form of topor - their bodies are simply too active to be slowed down. However, during their post- Galvanized Exhausted state, they are able to be knocked out like any other creatures.
A creature such as Stegosaurus is recommended for the taming process, due to not only it's bulk and damage resistance, but also access to rider weaponry. Because the Galvanize ability only activates if a Galvarex has hit an enemy creature enough times, your creature can be used to tank all the incoming damage while you wait for the Galvarex to tire out. Once it has, unload all the tranqs you possibly can into it for that window of time. Because Galvarex do not flee at high torpidity, it is a fairly straighforward process of taking damage and striking back with tranqs.
Utility
Combat
Glass Cannon - Galvarex are able to deal out large amounts of damage with their Galvanize ability. Their high speed also allows them to and from the front lines quickly, if need be. However, they cannot take as much of a beating as a Rex, nor deal damage as consistently. Riding a Galvarex while allowing for another creature to tank the majority of an enemy's damage can have devastating results. Level Melee Damage.
Transportation
As a Travel Mount - Being a larger predator with above average speed for it's size class coupled with a capability to jump, Galvarex make for excellent travel mounts. Using your Galvanize outside of combat provides extra speed and the ability to Super-Jump, allowing you to scale even mountains!
Notes/Trivia
- Galvarex was the second conceptualized creature and the first creature added for ARK: Project Anomaly.
- The Galvanize ability and by extension Galvarex as a whole were largely inspired by Octane from Apex Legends, namely from his speed-boosting ability and energetic nature.
- The Super-Jump ability was inspired by his "Launch Pad" ability, which launch the player a distance in a single direction.
- Galvarex has quite a few unofficial nicknames, including but not limited to "Guavarex" and "Gumby".
- In versions v1.2.7 and prior, Galvarex was able to harvest fiber and berries with its C Kick attack.
