The Ceratosaurus is a dinosaur in ARK Additions. It was added to the mod in August 2023 and was the last animal to be added to the mod before support was ended for Ark: Survival Evolved. Where going forward the mod would receive future updates only for Ark: Survival Ascended.

Overview

Described as a specialized bleed healer, likely comparable to the Blood Wyvern's "healing per nearby enemy bleeding".

Wild

While I'm surprised I haven't encountered them sooner, I'd rather them just vanish all-together. Ceratosaurus is as ruthless as they are quick. While not the most damaging carnivores you'll encounter, they are certainly some of the most persistent. I've seen these creatures even exhibit a sort of... stalking behavior unlike anything else I've seen on The Island. While they may not make themselves known to you immediately, they certainly know where YOU are.

Domesticated

The spines on Ceratosaurus have a very unique and powerful trait: Venom! This hemotoxin has the bizarre reaction with blood, making it incredibly nutritious to Carnivores. The more intense the venom infection, the more nutritious the blood becomes. I've witnessed tribes that have managed to tame these beasts use it to great effect against larger threats, and even the Island's guardians! Perhaps this desire to devour envenomed prey can be used against them...?

Color Scheme and Regions

The Ceratosaurus's range of its natural color scheme is unknown at this time, however its color regions are available. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Ceratosaurus.

This information can be used to alter the Ceratosaurus's regions by entering cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID> in the cheat console. For instance, cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6 would color the Ceratosaurus's "scales/lines" magenta.

Taming

Taming Method

To tame, you will have to hunt Ceratos and gather their venom spines.
At level 75, you can learn to craft the Hemogoblin Cocktail.
This is a special concoction you feed to your tamed dinos that will attract Ceratosaurus.
When a Ceratosaurus attacks the cocktailed creature, they will slowly become blood drunk.
When fully blood drunk, you can safely passive feed them.
Higher level Ceratos will take longer to get drunk, and take more feeds to tame.

Utility

Controls

Left click to bite. Cerato can turn to bite opponents to their side. Right click is the spine attacks. You have a horn thrust and a tail spin. You can attack opponents to your side or behind you with the tail spin. These attacks are how you apply the venom debuff.
If you hold Right-click while above 75% speed, or right-click from a slide after reaching 75% speed, your Cerato will perform a more powerful horn thrust attack

  • Left - This key triggers a simple bite. Ceratos can turn to bite opponents to their side.

Roles

Boss Healer - The Ceratosaurus's "blood explosion" heals creatures more the more the Cera attac

Notes

The Ceratosaurus was the last creature to be added before support was ended for the ASE version of Ark Additions.

It is the first sponsorable creature to reach its funding goal and be added into Ark Additions.
