Various skins exist in ARK: Survival Evolved that aesthetically alter clothing (or other equipable items).

To equip a skin on console select the skin, then select the item you wish to skin.

To remove a skin from an item put this item in your inventory and then hold Ctrl while dragging the skin with the left-clicked mouse from the item. On Xbox press X and on PlayStation press Square.

Many skins can be obtained by unlocking certain achievements, after which survivors will have them in their inventory every time they respawn. Other skins can be unlocked by killing certain creatures. For more information, see the individual skin pages below.

Notes

  • Only the Federation Exo Armor and Mjolnir skins may be used on Tek items.
  • Skins and Costumes can be spawned into the game with admin commands:
    • Cheat GFI Costume_Top<Name of Skin> 1 0 0 (in which gives (1) Top Hat skin.
    • Cheat GFI Costume_BoneRaptor<Name of Costume> 1 0 0 (in which gives (1) Bone Raptor Costume.
  •  Torches can be attached to certain saddles like the  Equus Saddle similar to the skin function.
  • The Bionic Dino costumes are spawned with in Primitive Plus if bought. Maybe because Tek is not in Primitive Plus.

Changelog

Patch  ASE Changes
170.0 Bonus Item Skins (Stomped Glasses, Cowboy Hat, Noble Saddle) are permanent, locked to your character, and given again after respawn (dropping them simply removes them if you don't want them -- if you want to keep them, apply them to an item).
178.0 Cosmetics now all weigh 0 KG.
