The "Platform Cart" was added as part of Bob's Tall Tales Frontier Pack for Scorched Earth in  ARK: Survival Ascended.

Once crafted, the cart can be equipped onto a creature's "Cart" slot next to it's saddle. The cart can be damaged independently of the creature pulling it and appears to have damage resistance equivalent to wooden structures. If the tame pulling it dies, the cart is destroyed as well. Structures built directly on the cart with their own inventories can drop their items in bags. A  Mortar and Pestle on a table will not bag its contents upon destruction.

Weight Reduction

The cart appears to reduce the weight of anything carried by 35% of its original weight. This does not stack with any weight reductions the cart-puller has, like an Ankylosaurus.
For example:

  • A  Parasaur with an empty inventory, after being equipped with a  Parasaur Saddle then  Platform Cart, will show as having a weight of 40.
  • A  Large Storage Box can be placed on the cart adding 0 to the overall weight (vs it having a structure weight of 4).
  • Adding 20 stacks of  Wood into the storage box adds 650 weight to the dino vs the 1,000 weight that it shows in the box.

--Note: further testing is needed to confirm if varying types of cargo in varying containers: e.g.  Artifacts and  Vessel or  Preserving Bin have different percent reductions. As well as, if all structures add 0 weight, e.g. walls, floors, and beds.--

Build Limitations

Like other platform saddles, some items cannot be placed on the cart. (e.g.  Vault &  Tek Dedicated Storage)
Additionally, there are build restrictions as to the height and overhang of walls/ceilings placed on the cart.
--Further testing is needed to expand on this info.--

Troughs

Feeding Troughs around your base can be configured on whether to be automatically stocked by the inventory of a cart that is within a certain proximity. For example, a cart with a  Electrical Generator and  Refrigerators on it can be carted around your base and the contents of those fridges will be used to automatically fill troughs. There does not appear to be a way to filter by food type for troughs.

Compatible tames

The following creatures, equipped with their saddle, can pull the cart (non exhaustive):

Incompatible tames

To reduce duplicate testing until a complete list is established, the following similarly sized creatures, do not currently have a slot for the cart:
