The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

  • Only wiki-related issues should be posted here. For support or suggestions regarding the game, try posting on the official forums at [1] or emailing the developers at [email protected].
  • This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post discussions on the talk page.
  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete|reason for deletion request}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene. If a user must be reported here, please use {{user}}, preferably as the topic subject/headline.

Since none of the editors here are developers, we can neither help with issues directly related to the game nor influence any facet of its development any more than you can.

Adding the Hover Skiff to Template:CarryableTable

Would it be possible to add the Hover Skiff to Template:CarryableTable (or wherever it needs to be added) in order to have it appear on articles as a valid thing that can pick-up certain creatures? *I* know it can carry virtually everything, but as a server admin - there's a lot of players who can't work things out backwards.

I've never used Cargo so I am too anxious to make the change myself. Even looking at the existing code, I'm not confident that I can just extrapolate without breaking something. 📉 Emptylord (talk) 14:25, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

The Cargo table should now register whether things can be carried by the Hover Skiff as long as the carryableby field lists the "TEK Hover Skiff". The data table should be populated first before the carriability table is expanded (can't do it myself at this moment in time). Alexrmski (talk) 08:44, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Updating "Diet" to reflect gameplay rather than dossier

It is my understanding (in part from when I was an admin a couple years back) that a lot of our creature information is autogenerated from the game files. How feasible would it be to update "Diet" on the infobox to reflect what is true in game, in spite of what is claimed in the dossier? Would the bot overright userinput every time there's a patch? I genuinely cannot remember. The dossiers have become increasingly trivial over the years, and they are in large part treated as "ignorable lore" even on the articles - but some information granted in the dossiers is still the information reflected in the infobox, even when it's inaccurate. For example,  Megachelon claims it's an omnivore - but it's a herbivore in-game.

As with above, I'm mainly asking as a server owner who has to deal with people asking questions; as an editor who hates seeing people say "yeah, I don't trust the wiki". 📉 Emptylord (talk) 15:22, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Since late June gameplay-based information is preferred over the dossiers in infoboxes, with an additional extension of the dossier template to allow for its info to be retained. Check Otter for example.
Having a bot auto-fill the diet is planned (if not already specified), but most likely not for ARK 1 (given that data extraction focus has been shifting towards updating its core). Alexrmski (talk) 08:30, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

automated language filter

On the page https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/-Space-_(Genesis:_Part_2) I tried to improve visibility by change the background color of the "Supply Crate color" table using a little of html-CSS code to make it but it flagged as "potential vandalism" and "prevent it" by not making the update, I dont know if is not allowed but I think is really really useful because it makes so much easy to read which kind of drop are by having the literal color right there

Finixian (talk) 00:15, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

The filter probably got triggered by the isolated word "black". I've reinstated the edit, thanks. Alexrmski (talk) 17:04, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

Another False Vandalism Flag

Today I've added the page for the Crystal Unka for the Crystal Dinos Collection mod, and I worked on completing the page to an acceptable point for the past few hours. Once I finally tried to save, it flagged me for vandalism under the reason "Gibberish", despite it definitely being a comprehensible page. I'm still learning the ways of the wiki but after looking it over it just seems to be another error in the filter. Any way I could get help with this?

Aquonyx (talk) 03:47, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

I'll reinstate your edit in around 2 hours once back at home. In a few days the filter should not cause you any further issues. Alexrmski (talk) 11:17, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
Restored. Sorry for the trouble. Alexrmski (talk) 13:07, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

Potential vandalism for Ebenus Astrum

So, I want to add useful infromation about spawns on the Battle Island and then typed in the Monolophosaur's ingame name (Monolonoding longasaurus)(had to hide some of name parts because it keeps flaging vandalism). It's what it's called in game and on this wiki. Please fix it. 91.243.23.229 08:37, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

Cannon Bl, language filter

Hello,

I tried to add a table to the Cannon (round shaped munition!) page but it was as possible vandalism.

Actually this is the third time I've tried to submit even this message, as it's also getting flagged as vandalism :)

Thank you,

Vandalism

Hello Admins I'm Tanooki Dg (talk) 19:16, 13 April 2023 (UTC) and I'm new here on the wiki. When I tried to enter my user page it said this "Your edit has been flagged as potential vandalism by the automated language filter and has been prevented." and I didn't know what it meant by this. So can you please help me? Apr 13, 2023, 12:16 Arizona Time.

Gasoline amounts wrong

Gasoline Page.png

Hi admins, I looked at the Gasoline page (Gasoline), and it shows different burn times to the Chemistry Bench, Industrial Grinder, and Industrial Grill (Chem Bench, Grinder, Grill).

Fjordur pages seem to be down

I'm getting load errors on the Fjordur main page, the creature spawn and resources map pages. The explorer map page seems to still work. This appears to be a new error today; was working last night (9/26/2023). Tested on Chrome and Edge on PC and Chrome on Android with the same results.

Example:

Internal error [2fa1f3ff3953c26a7275c63c] 2023-09-28 00:41:23: Fatal exception of type "TypeError"

Mba4931627 (talk) 00:43, 28 September 2023 (UTC) Mba4931627

Known, waiting for a patch to be installed and nothing can speed this up. Alex4401 (talk) 03:22, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
Should be resolved now. Alex4401 (talk) 08:05, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
It's down again with the following message:

Pain. Looking into it. Alex4401 (talk) 18:28, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
Platform "updated" to the wrong version of the code powering interactive maps. I'd expect it to be fixed in ~6-10 hours. Alex4401 (talk) 18:46, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
Resolved. Alex4401 (talk) 19:51, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

Will Chinese language be supported?

As a server manager in the Chinese community, I love to help others, but I have found that most Chinese players have no idea about the existence of the wiki, and some of them even know about it, but will not use it because there is no Chinese in it. I would like to know whether the Chinese language option will be supported in the future, and I can help translate it into Chinese I'm sorry, but I'm enthusiastic, but I'm not familiar with the rules of the editor's world 老张 (talk) 01:10, 21 October 2023 (UTC)

Any translation of the wiki may be started.
  • To start, please create translations of pages as new pages with the language code suffix in the title: for example, ARK: Survival Ascended's Chinese translation should be created in ARK: Survival Ascended/zh. Additionally, the very top of the translated page must use the Translation template with the title translated into Chinese as the only parameter (if the title is different). So, for example in Spanish, ARK: Survival Ascended/es would have {{Translation}} as the very first line of the source code, but Water/es would have {{Translation/Agua}}.
  • To get a separate wiki launched, the main page, all articles linked from it, Help:Contents and Help:Editing must be translated first.
  • When the wiki is being split, all translated articles will be moved to it automatically, and renamed to specified titles.
  • This is also documented at Help:Translating.
  • Contact through the noticeboard or talk pages on wiki is possible, but using wiki's Discord server is generally preferred as it allows for quicker information exchange.

My edit gets flagged as vandalism

Hello, OSubMarin here,
I cannot use the following "span" in my edits:
<span style="background:darkred;font-weight:bold;color:white">
It gets flagged as vandalism and it says I need to contact an admin
Thanks

Maybe you were pasting some non-visible unicode character? It worked for me. --Alessio89 (talk) 10:19, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
It's working for you Alessio, because your account's existed for a while and you've already got some edits.
I'll mention this to the person who manages those spam filters. But once you reach 5 edits on the wiki and your account is more than 2 days old, those filters typically don't apply to you. Alex4401 (talk) 17:29, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
Yeah my account is new here, I was contributing to the old wiki previously (https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/UserProfile:OSubMarin - 6 creations and 31 edits). Thanks for the explanations. OSub

edit has been flagged as potential vandalism

i'm just trying to copy over a old wiki from a admin that is no longer with us, you can see the original wiki here https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/User:Emptylord/Prodigy/Evolved and i'm trying to copy it over to here https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/User:OldManMaple

but it flags as inapproriate language... — Preceding unsigned comment added by OldManMaple (talk • contribs) at 21:09, 6 January 2024‎. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Copied. Your account should be able to bypass that spam filter in a day or two anyways (if not already). Alex4401 (talk) 20:14, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

My edit was flagged as potential vandalism by the automated language filter

Tried to update the ASE video links on the ASA breeding page to some ASA videos TyrantKing76 (talk) 15:56, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

I see you've managed to succeed, fortunately. Notified the person maintaining the spam filters if an exception can be added, but it might not be technically possible. Alex4401 (talk) 18:36, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Reporting abuse and edit war

I would like to report 2 users. https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/User:OSubMarin https://ark.wiki.gg/wiki/User:Eclipse

Basically they keep removing a paragraph where I offer a contradictory POV. They first called it "opinionated" despite being backed up with plenty of technical details and when I pointed that out they changed their angle and called it "useless" despite offering plenty of information that are not in there. The truth is they just can not bear a contradictory POV and act like rabbit fanboys of their favorite dinosaur.

Furthermore I have added a [citation needed] flag to a controversial claim they made and they keep removing it without providing any citation, just as a mean to silence any contradictory POV and for me this is evidence they have no data to backup their claims, and they just repeat urban legends without doing any fact checking.

And finally the user OSubMarin has insulted me and called me a troll, just because I do not share the same faith as he does.

Hopefully you can take care of this and such abuse will not be permitted.

Koyit20512 14:26, 14 March 2024‎ (UTC)

  • 1) You are not offering a contraditory POV, rexes were already listed as a possible tame, you just want to claim that rex does as good as theriz vs dragon, and that the general consensus is false. And it was clear on the page before you came with your sub-bullet point, only bringing confusion on the theriz bullet point.
    2) You are generalizing, I'm saying that the beginning of your paragraph is useless and I maintain that, since it was already written on that page, way before you started to edit it, that herbivores do not take deduced damages vs Fire Breath, as it can be seen here: https://ark.wiki.gg/index.php?title=Dragon&oldid=533753
    3) For the removal of your [citation needed] I already apologized, I thought "citation needed" was meant to indicate a link was needed, that's why I replaced it with a link to the page. So I'm not sure why you are writing this argument here, anyone can do mistakes sometimes, you are victimizing yourself too much.
    4) Yes I said you were trolling in the conversation we were having on my personal page because:
    * Your are repeating information already written just to conclude on something which makes no sense.
A boss fight cannot be resumed to attack damages, you completely missed how theriz strategy works by saying they does less good since they do less damage.
    * You keep wanting to claim that rex is as good as theriz for the Dragon fight, which is false: theriz can negate one Fire Breath per minute thanks to veggie cakes, which makes it a safer Dragon killer than rexes since your rexes will die to the 5th fire breath (6 or 7 at best, and only if you come with a very good Daeodon).
Rexes will need a very good damage stat in order to take down the Dragon quickly before they die. Theriz don't need to take down the dragon quickly (even though they can thanks to similar damage output), you missed the point of using veggie cakes.
    * You replaced "and will deal more damage than the Daeodon can effectively heal", which is true, with "which is far more than the Sweet Vegetable Cake can effectively heal", which is false. This sentence was not even from me or Eclipse, it was there way before we all started to edit the page.
I tried to give you precise explanations, documented with Excel tables and graphs, of why Fire Breath does more damages than Daeodon can effictively heal, and why Sweet Vegetable Cakes can negate 1 Fire Breath per minute (so that it makes it the perfect counter to Fire Breath), but it seems you did not even read the explanations I gave you.
    * You say that we are not respecting your POV, and at the same time you are shamelessly deleting and replacing the edits of 3 other contributors. Who is the one not respecting others POV?
    OSubMarin 16:17, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
    • Here we go again, this guy is once again insulting me and calling me a troll. He violates the terms of use in an admin page, no less. He is just unable to accept a contradictory argument. The whole point of my edit is to make sure the reader understands that his POV on the Theriz is not the consensus. The first version of his edit was claiming that the Theriz has "a higher DPS" and once this was debunked, he has switched to another angle of "better healing". This switch of narratives is evidence that the claims of this guy are not backed up with actual data and fact checking, and more based on speculation and urban legends. This better healing claim is also inaccurate and not backed up with actual data. It is just an opinion, which I do not share. I have also pointed out in another page that his understanding of the Daeodon healing mechanics is strongly lacking and based on speculations. Koyit20512 (talk) 17:10, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
I am unable to see any opinonated views from the other editors, please stop from inserting faulty information and berading other users of the wiki for trying to remove your edits. Genie451 (talk) 17:42, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
And I suppose you did not see the insults either. In that case, I am done here I have no use for an editor account in a wiki with child-admins who permit insults. Koyit20512 (talk) 17:49, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
The language is a problem but there's no good way to punish anyone for it without punishing everybody (in this situation). Your tone hasn't been any better and should had just been kept as neutral as possible throughout the conflict. Alex4401 (talk) 18:37, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
