Breeding

Quetzalcoatlus taming is an issue.

okay before I start, Yes they can be tamed and yes you can get friends to help. However The Quetz is a fantastic bird and I have noticed it is nearly impossible to tame solo(alone). I have tried landing on its back to fill it with narcotics, this doesn't work. I have tried lifting a scorpion to hit it again doesn't work(After 2 hours I gave up). I have tried going higher than it and parachuting down onto it while shooting the new darts. I went through 40 darts on a level 12. So developers how are people who play alone supposed to be able to obtain and tame this creature if you have made it physically impossible to do so. This makes this part of the game very unfair for either a single player person or me a solo tribes man. I suggest something is changed to make it possible to Tame this bird by yourself! Problem with Breeding/Dino files link on the Main page

Small issue. Since you added the "breeding" part on the main page, when you click on the "image" of the Dino files you are sent to the breeding page. Not very important but I just wanted to let you know of that little mistake. Disconnection / Server disapears from server list

I have experienced this once before a few weeks back. Enable Semantic Mediawiki please?

Hello!

In game wikis I always look for lots of data so I can plan and optimize my base / gameplay without going into creative mode or such. But when I start putting up the data values I get sad because there are multiple pages that need the same data :( Can we enable Semantic Mediawiki extension on here (and preferably enable external use)? I checked and it's already allowed on Gamepedia, it's just disabled by default.

One place it would really help is having all the item stats on the item's page, and then Entity_IDs would be generated and updated automatically. And also adding coordinates to locations such as caves, artifacts, etc would automatically generate Coordinates. Crafting, Farming#Fertilization, and Farming#Seeds would also be done automagically. I'm sure there's more examples.

Maybe we can also use Semantic Maps to show a map of the island and different points of interest, instead of uploading a different looking map for each type of location that quickly gets outdated.

Looks good, thanks for the suggestion and the activation. For the Semantic Maps it seems one need map-data like OpenStreetMap or Googlemap provide it, but I guess there is nothing there like that for the ARK-Island yet. Inconsistent information on pages

Hello, admins!

In regards to Thatch - the Domestication page states 5/5 stars for the Brontosaurus, while the actual Brontosaurus page lists 4/5 stars. Is this inconsistency intentional? This issue was submitted through Gamepedia's support email. Thanks! BriannaMCR (talk) 16:01, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

That's an odd thing to send an email for. But those stars are complete estimates, almost arbitrary, simply to allow users to easily compare multiple creatures and evaluate their individual utilities. As far as I know, Bronto is the best thatch-gatherer, so I'm going to run with the 5 stars.

Eomys Fan made Dossier and page.

I saw that the Eomys page that I worked hard on was marked for deletion. I find it kind of unfair as the Dodorex was ALSO a fan made creature and so was the page for it yet it remained on the wiki for a long time. Up until the creature was implemented as a Halloween special boss mob then the page was modified. That page too had all the info, but the creature was nowhere.

I would like to request that the page may be archived or moved to the "Fan Art" as a whole and not just the image. The page itself contains a lot more info then just the dossier image.

just fan art. It was a lot more then that. If you couldn't see that, then you need to

The difference between yours and the DodoRex is the DodoRex was officially confirmed as being added to the game in ARK Digest #11, and upon which a page was promptly created for it. If you can direct us to a dev post or reply stating that your Eomys will be added, we will gladly restore the page. However, Fan-created dossiers are not allowed their own page, since that would cause a great deal of confusion.

Your page was deleted because it is not a part of the game, yet was made to appear as if it was. Try to imagine that it wasn't your creature, and you had never been here before - you would see that page and think that it was somehow confirmed due to it having an official place on the wiki. We do not want our viewers to be walking away with incorrect information. The DodoRex was given a page prior to its actual release because it was confirmed in Ark Digest #11.

Now, rather than make a childish attempt to try and slander us and attack me personally, perhaps you can give me a reason why an unofficial creature should stay on the official wiki? Perhaps we could find a way to accommodate you and other fan artists beyond the existing Fan Art page. Your page was deleted, but deleted items can easily be restored with a click; it isn't necessarily gone for good.

Alright, Alianin came up with a compromise. You can have your full creature page on your personal wiki page, or as a subpage of it if you'd prefer that.
For future reference, if you disagree with policy, the policy is enforced first and debated second. Constructive criticism is welcome, insults are not. If you disagree with this compromise, I'd suggest you try discussing an alternative without calling me an asshole - it's much more likely to work out in your favor.

So, yeah.... blow me away, do what you admins do. But before you do that, do direct me to your "Policy" page where it states that Fan made dossiers are not allowed even if the creator clearly indicates on the page that it is a Fan Fiction/Creation and it may never be part of the game. I checked the Rules, it says nothing about it. I checked the General Disclaimer thinking that maybe it was there, but nothing. I checked the main page, but no luck there either. So, anyways do enforce your policies as you come up with them, as it is YOUR wiki. But then do tell me this. Why put all those Style Guides accessible by all if you don't want anyone to create a page? You COULD limit access to them to the Admin team only... I'm sure that would prevent this kind of headache for you.

PS.: I didn't call you an asshole, i just pointed it out that you are doing a sloppy job by not reading the content of the page nor my initial request of getting it moved as a whole to the Fan Art area. Put myself in your shoes? Perhaps you can try to do the same? You spent half a day creating one page, I spend half of most of my days for the past few months keeping this place as neat and tidy as I can, reviewing most every edit made to make sure it's appropriate and not complete bullshit (of which there is a lot) and trying to figure out the best way to handle it if it is, searching for any and all areas that require improvement, and of course, conversing with people like you who can't be bothered to look at the bigger picture, yet insist that they're the ones with unfilled shoes - all in addition to school and a job. My sincerest apologies if the items on my to-do list weren't in the correct order to appease you. I found the page you made, saw that it was content that was not a part of the game, promptly removed it so as not to confuse or mislead our readers, and moved to the next item on my list; it wasn't until a few minutes later that I came across your post requesting its relocation, and by that point you had already started slandering the wiki and insulting me. This is a wiki for the game, not deviantart, it is very heavily implied that content should be about the game. When we discussed the rules back in the summer as we were creating them, and continue to discuss them daily, we had thought that much would be obvious, but now that I can see we were mistaken, I'll be sure to bring up that addition with the other admins and have it added to the rule sheet ASAP.
I do care about members (although I'm admittedly more fond of those who are helpful, follow the rules, and offer their opinions civilly), and I understand your reaction to having your creation removed , but that does not justify your lashing out. If you were to make a good point, which you did (initially), things can be changed, which they were - your page being restored and moved somewhere more appropriate until such time as a proper spot for it can be found. If you disagree with the way things are done and want to get things changed, we're happy to hear you out. But if you want to act like a brat and start mudslinging when you don't get your way, we'll also be happy to deal with you as such.

Your creation was initially moved to your UserWiki , so it was in a sense archived there. However, in the course of typing this reply, I think I've come up with a better solution - while it would be too much trouble to create a new namespace for one creature and it would be too cluttered to put it on the Fan Art page as a whole, it can be moved to a subpage of the existing fan art page: Fan Art/Eomys. This seems to me to be a good place for it, and pretty close to what you were originally asking, but of course, feel free to let us know if you disagree.
Curse has another ARK project in the works. I don't know how much I should say, but once it goes public, there will likely be a much more appropriate environment for you to share this and any other creations you come up with.

Hey Kdthehun, personally I love what you put together in regards to your fan art for Eomys and would love to see more. Hopefully people aren't discouraged by this unknowing of where to place it and continue to create new ideas for creatures and dinosaurs. I think the placement of it was a bit of a misunderstanding, and other people getting confused by it thinking it was actually in the game. While where to place it is still being discussed, we'd love to have more fan created content in the future and hopefully things are settled between you and Mr Pie 5. For future reference, please make use of your user page as much as you can preferably. Besides spam, it's there for users to try out different things, create mock pages, and or fan ideas, and from there it can be expanded and placed in a proper area. Resource location information template?

I really love the recent creature habitat information that has been added to the templates, so i was curious if it would be possible to do something similiar for resources? It might be slightly redundant for some resources like wood(since it's available nearly everywhere). However stuff like oil, crystals, metal etc it would be very usefull to be able to show on a map where it is abundant. I would do this myself, if it wasen't for the fact that i don't know how tempalte creation works. misspelling server configuration option (MaxPlatformSaddleStructureLimit)

On the server configuration page, where is a misspelling option.

PerPlatformMaxStructureMultiplier should be PerPlatformMaxStructuresMultiplier.

Ark crashing

I've recently updated Ark on steam and now whenever I open it a crash report shows up. I've validated my files yet it is still crashing. Unfair towards PC Players

We basicly helped you set up your shop to become a great game studio, Supporting you guys from the start of Ark:Survival Evolved from the start. Eventho alot of bugs glitches and other stupid stuff happened (obviously happens in an Alpha is what its for) but then reward your playerbase that helped you clean up alot of those bugs.

Instead of making a Xbox One version of the game and giving them EXCLUSEIVE ROBOT TREX CONTENT?

Are you kidding me right now.. We have been playing this game for over 1000+hours mostly, and we get jack shit..

I honestly feel that Wildcard Studios is taking the piss on this one.

Make it so that we can get robot Trex skins aswell, this makes no sence to not give it to PC players wich have been with you from the start, making your game great.

Can you please do something bout this, its pissing me off alot and i might even quit to play overall. Games need to be fair, and fair to playerbase for the amount of work they have put in. Also pc Players made ur game great on Twitch and not your SOTF tournament, The first SOTF with slipg8tr and all the other streamers, that have made you big.. Hi, you totally seem to be on the wrong place. This is a wiki about the game, not a place to give feedback or to complain about non-wiki-related topics. The dev's very likely will never read this, your pissed off language only annoys other players who seek information about the game and admins who have to clean up. Picks and Hatchets do not appear in the GatherinEfficiencyTables of the resources

Winter Wonderland

i have been playing ark since Christmas Night. The character i play offlinee has randomly reset, tthe levels and cannot claim dinosaurs or buildings. It is making me very frustrated and upset as it has happened Three time, I have worked really hard and put many hours into the game since Christmas. I cant find anything related to this, can anyone help. ¬¬¬¬DixiGaming

What Is Ark Survival Evolved?

In your, "What is Ark: Survival Evolved?" post on the Main Page. It says, "Coming soon to Xbox One and PlayStation 4!" The game has already came out for the Xbox One. Outdated information on Herbivore Island/ South haven

Hi.

I just noticed how the page of Herbivore Island says that no carnivores/ hostile animals spawn there, while nowadays multiple Argentavis spawn on the Island. So I would just like to point out that it's now less safe to be there for new players and that the Argentavis is missing on the list of creatures that spawn on the island. The Argentavis are only spawning there as part of Winter Wonderland and do not spawn there under normal conditions.

In the new patch 231 I saw them on the Island too. I even got attacked by them. I'm 100% sure this was after the Winter Wonderland, so maybe it's a bug.

Tribe left, Structures gone

Hello I have been playing on the official server 436 and was in a tribe that I created and was alone in said tribe. I then left the tribe after building a base for fear it would make other tribes attack me. However I did not think that I wouldn't be able to access my doors and gates. Is there anyway that I can Rejoin the tribe that now has 0 members or atleast be able to get all of the structures that I placed back under my control,

Colours of habitat information

Recently the colours of the creatures habitat information have been changed:          

I have the impression that now on the map the borders between the green colours of "Very Common" and "Common" are nearly indistinguishable and the borders between orange "Rare" and red "Very Rare" are a bit difficult to distinguish. Two example pages: Pteranodon & Quetzal.

So I wanted to ask, if others have the same issue.

Xbox update

Would you guys mind adding the Xbox Controls into your wikis?

A lot of your content on here seems to be focused primarily on PC.

The problem is that most, if not all of our main editors are PC players, so we don't really know what the Xbox buttons are. We have the Controls page for general controls, but for actions for specific items, we're reliant on passerby to fill that information in. I can get some better notices about PC exclusives made though.

Ovaraptor frustration

Hi

We have tamed a couple of Ovarators now, but after a couple of days they disappear under the map (they DONT Die its not until we see the egg symbol gone from the other dinos we notice) sometimes they clitch under foundations then when we go to get them we fall through the map and the dino disappears?? is this an issue with Xbox at the moment?

this is annoying me at the moment because they are not easy to tame as it is this has happened to a couple more people on the sever.

How to handle missed ETAs

As anyone who follows upcoming patch notes at all knows, the devs ETAs are almost always missed. While I have no problem with this (they are estimates, after all), I don't think the patch notes section of the wiki should be left inaccurate simply because the devs haven't updated the post yet. Would it be more appropriate to replace the ETA bit with something like '???' or 'Unknown'? For example, instead of leaving the wiki page as 'Upcoming Version: v237.0, ETA: March 23' on March 24th, replace it with 'Upcoming Version: v237.0, ETA: Unknown'. I think it's far less confusing for those who are unaware of the devs tendencies to miss/not update their ETAs. Pieisnotpi (talk) 20:10, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

Patch-Download-Size

Hi, Is there any possible way you could post the approximate patch file sizes? Even something like "less than 500K" or "greater than 2G" would be extremely helpful. Surely this is information that is known once a patch is live and surely I'm not the only who'd find it helpful.

Boring details as to why I request this: Due to circumstances beyond our control and a lack of choices, we have download limits and slow internet speed. I can download files elsewhere but it's a pain in the butt. If a patch is small enough to download at home I will do that but since my alternate download location is an hour from home, it'd be nice to know in advance the file size so I can plan ahead. Paint Regions

Hello, I am fairly certain this is the best way to present my little pet project (even though I am confident many of you have seen it by now via Recent Changes) without spamming each of your Talk pages.

At User:Sanctyl/Template:PaintRegions, I have coded a template that I consider ready to be deployed to the Live Wiki. I would like to apply this template to each Structure page initially, and then perhaps Gear/Saddles in the future by using a Section Header entitled "Paint Regions." This, by no means, implies anyone but me has more work to do for each individual page; I can upload images and update the pages over time as my personal contribution. I am wondering, however, if any of you have input or suggestions (perhaps prefer different naming conventions or styling guides, etc) before deployment?

It looks good, nice work. Gathering the individual images will be the tricky part, especially standardizing them. As I said in my edit to the template (which I hoped would work first try, now I feel bad about leaving broken code on your page), it would be nice to also put a slideboxlightshow on the side so that users can easily flip through blown-up versions of the image, rather than visit each individual page. Aside from that, looks fine. The nomenclature is simple enough to use, and any changes that need to be made to the text can easily be done at a later point.

I'm glad you like it. I was going to mess with your code before I noticed you pulled it over to your own Sandbox, but I did take a look at it. If the code does work with the slideboxlightshow, I think instead of repeating the if statements, an array could save on overhead (if arrays are installed on this Wiki, I haven't honestly checked). An array could be added to each time the template determines an image exists, and then the final array would be called into slideboxlightshow.

Edit: I confirmed that arrays aren't installed here, so never mind my suggestion. Arrays are fun though. :) Sanctyl (talk) 05:07, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

I agree with you on editing templates; they could be easier to work with. I also like your slideshow (it gives the template more life) and copied it into my Sandbox. I'm going to let the template sit as-is for another day just in case you, any of the other admins, or I come up with something else to improve upon now before it becomes a chore to do in the future. DINOS DISAPPEARING AFTER UPDATE XBOX ONE

Dino Eggs

On my offline personal server I cannot get my dinosaurs to lay eggs. The dodos will lay eggs but my tamed dilos, parasaurs, and raptor have not layed any eggs. My dilos are mate boosted so I do not think that is the problem and it isn't that they are deteriorating before I see them either because I always have my raptor with me.
