The filter was triggered by "dank" in Illidank. I've added the content of your most recent edit attempt to the page (you should check that I didn't miss anything). Sorry for the trouble.

Temporary Chat

Regarding the stills vs .gifs: I want to collect info and pictures for the wiki but I don't know what method is preferred over others. What do you think about this as a solution? You give me a list of needed images and their format and i can help push whatever you have on a To-Do list further along.

If that would be more of an inconvenience than a benefit, what could I do to help?--Vorlice (talk) 00:30, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
We are in very short supply of "as it appears in-game" style images, so those could definitely be of use. I don't want to gather them myself because I'm forced to play on the lowest graphical settings, so nothing looks all that "good". png format would be preferred, but jpg is good too. Animated gifs shouldn't be used unless necessary (such as the Emote gifs you uploaded) as the movement can draw the reader's eye away from whatever they're actually trying to look at. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 00:41, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

I have all structures on my list. Anything you were wanting to add for priority? I'll be keeping them all on the talk pages since I don't know how to format to save my life.--Vorlice (talk) 01:18, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

I think structures are the main ones, especially expensive stuff, since the appearance of something like an Industrial Grill can have a big impact on where a player would want to place it. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 03:18, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

Microraptor

Thanks for getting the picture for me

Happy to do my part. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 03:29, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Undos are never minor edits

Just a note: Undoing another revision is never a minor edit. Minor edits are for superficial differences that you believe requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Not that I am disputing any of the undos you have performed, but following this rule makes reviewing changes easier for all involved. :] -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 10:01, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

Got it. I had thought of "minor edit" to mean only a small change, and therefore undoing a small change would be in itself a small change. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 16:21, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, that's completely understandable, and I used to think so as well. But I believe the MediaWiki Handbook's definition ultimately makes more sense. :] -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 16:28, 22 July 2015 (UTC)

I just leave everything as a non-minor edit is that ok? Michael Voith/Laski

Yeah, it doesn't actually affect anything. Some users just prefer to ignore minor edits when reviewing changes.

ok thanks for telling me

About Notes/Tips

Maybe it's just my academic background, but I don't particularly like the section name Notes/Tips. Would it be a problem if we just stick to Notes? The way I see it, tips are included in Notes. I also think we should split the Notes into Notes and Trivia wherever it makes sense. Thoughts? (I ask because you are clearly one of the more opinionated editors here--which is good, the wiki needs it--and finding a common editing style would be beneficial.) -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 22:57, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

It would be fine with me to rename them to just "Notes". I use the combined title because I see that Notes are more of notices of oddities, issues, or just things the player should be aware of; whereas a tip would be like "try doing x" or "avoid doing y". I just didn't want to have separate notes and tips sections, as excess sections can easily clutter the page. As for trivia, pages that actually have information that qualifies as trivia should definitely have a trivia section, but if they don't, an empty section looks tacky. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 23:22, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
I think having Notes, Tips, and Trivia sections is fine if the content warrants it. But I agree that there shouldn't be empty sections, rather split Notes into sections when an appropriate number of items has been added. What are your thoughts on having a Changes section for patch changes as well? I think having a standard "Changed in patch such and such" template would make a lot of sense, I just haven't gotten around to making one yet. :] -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 23:33, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
I think Changes would be a good section to add. This game's content is constantly being changed, so it would be interesting to see a list of how each thing has changed over time. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 23:43, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
Cool. I'll see about getting a "changed in" template made once I'm done with the infoboxes. -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 23:57, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

What about "Notes" & "Tips" sections for pages warranting separate sections, and "Notes/Tips" for those not? Users wuld easily think tips are not available when in fact they might be. Just a thought.  :)

Fantastic job on Attributes

I just stumbled upon the Attributes page, fantastic job! :] -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 21:26, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. I spent the better part of an afternoon on those, and I'm rather happy with how they turned out. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 04:02, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Note about the new construction sub section you're rolling out

Hey! I love that you're creating content for the various foundations, however I'm concerned that the part about support might not be correct. I have not personally tested this, but does the range in which ceilings can extend varry from structure tier to structure tier? -- Alex42000 (talk) 23:44, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

You know what, I actually hadn't thought of the range varying based on tier. I was using wooden structures when I learned about how the support system worked, and I rarely use anything from the other tiers. I'll go test this right now. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 23:47, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
I'm back. They all provide the same support. However, I did mess up the exact range of that support, so I'll fix that. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 00:21, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

About those recent IP blocks

I was originally going to make a post on the admin noticeboard about all those vandalism edits I undone, but noticing you had already started to block them I decided it was not necessary. However after looking at the history of Spinosaur more closely I noticed that one of the IP addresses you blocked might actually be innocence, the revision that 84.118.100.218 made that inflated the numbers was apparently an undo of their prevision change that reduced them back down to their original values. The source of these inflated numbers was added by 37.200.78.33 in a revision that also the level range of the taming section to 1 - 120. Of course I might just be reading the history wrong but those are the conclusions I have drawn. Zenor113 (talk) 03:09, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

I see what you are referring to. They did change the numbers to something else after 37.200.78.33 inflated them, and then reverted their own edit. It may be the case that 84.118.100.218 decided against their own edit of the numbers, but here's what I'm seeing when I look at the situation: A) the user made 2 edits, both of which inserted absurdly incorrect information, B) they did not include an explanation of their edit in the summary, so all I have to work off of is the content of those two edits (see A), and C) I still consider it vandalism even if you revert your own vandalism without some sort of explanation (i.e. "my little brother got on the computer while I was in the bathroom"), although I do deliver a slightly shorter ban time than I otherwise would have. However, I did not initially notice that 37.200 started the inflation and he is now blocked for 3 days, and I also hadn't noticed that 84.118 had effectively reverted his own edit (without explanation though), so I have shortened his block to 1 day. It was a first offense for both addresses, so both blocks are short and little more than a mark on their record. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 03:33, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
Honestly I would probably make the same decision, much for the same reasons. However let me play devil's advocate for a moment, it is entirely possible that 84.118.100.218's first edit was a clumsy attempt at fixing some obviously incorrect information, rather than an act of vandalism. Although in that case they are still in the wrong for choosing somewhat arbitrary values to change them to instead of simply informing us about the problem on the talk page, either way I do have some doubts that they will even notice the block. Anyway besides all that, I believe that someone reverting their own vandalism is more likely to be an attempt to cover it up rather than an honest endeavor to right a wrong, but the possible effect that might have if factored into block length is another discussion entirely. Zenor113 (talk) 05:15, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
Like I said, a good explanation can go a long way. But they provided none. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 07:37, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

Taming Herbivores

Article currently implies favourite berry increases speed of taming. This is wrong. My edit to the information was reverted. 3mptylord (talk) 06:12, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

My mistake. I forgot that herbivores are weird with their foods compared to carnivores - berries positively correlate affinity and food value, causing overall speed to remain the same. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 08:36, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

have an idea for an egg page

holly cow, this was hard to find. I've looked around to try and find the right person that i can give this to. i believe this person is you.
i made a document to show the "family tree" of what kibble tames what and the saddle that goes with that dino. it is an Excel 2011 document. I've only played ark for a few weeks now on xbox with a couple of friends that are a high level and i enjoy the taming aspect of the game very much. I've looked through the egg part of the wiki page and believe this new page idea would be really helpful.
i created this account for the soul purpose of contacting you, send you the excel document and hope that you (or someone who is qualified) will post it on the wiki page. if you would like to see what i have come up with please email me and i will reply with what i have. my email is my user name at gmail.com. have a good one and thanks.

Dedicated

Hello dude! I was wondering if you know the answer to a question I have.. I've been playing my own server on non dedicated and I was wondering if I will lose my stuff if I click the dedicated button, also I've taken a couple of chances selecting dedicated and the loading time takes quite some time, do you know if that's natural? --DinoDork19 (talk) 21:28, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

I would expect that you would just transfer your non-dedicated over, keeping everything intact. However, I don't really know much about that process - we have a page on Dedicated Server Setup which may be of use, otherwise you might try the Community Forums or the Subreddit, where you may find someone more knowledgeable on this subject. All I can say for certain is that it's a good idea to keep backups just in case.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 04:26, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for replying! Do you by any chance know how to back it up for xbox one?--DinoDork19 (talk) 18:46, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
Oh, you're on Xbone - I know even less about that. If you can navigate to your console's memory and look through Ark's stuff, you should be able to find save data for your world and copy that to an external memory card or usb drive. But I don't have an Xbone, so grain of salt and whatnot.

Questions

Hi Mr Pie, im struggling to figure out how to private message U... Im on a moble if that makes a difference. Sorry to edit here. To answer your question, several animals tameable on PC are not on Xbox *yet*. One being the angler. Can U make this a separate page for others to post as they learn which ones? I cant remember any others, but unless its changed, there were a few (not just fish, i mean). Thank you for taking the time :) , and again, sorry to post this here.

Also added empty sections to Dire Wolf, Compy, and Giga... can you or any of the users please flesh them out? Its information that users currently have to scour all kinds of forums to get vaguely helpful and often contradictimory information on. If anyone culd help fill these out that would be great. Thanks again for your efforts on the wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SavannaDrag (talk • contribs) at 19:42, 25 February, 2016. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

(Sorry for late reply, I thought I answered yesterday but it seems the edit wasn't submitted). For the first question: to be clear, does the Angler not exist at all on the xbox, or is it there but untameable? You can knock it out but it can't be fed? If this is the case for this and other creatures on the Xbox, we can set up a system to asterisk the "yes" for these creatures' tame-ability, similar to what we do for the "released" column.
For the second question: I like where you're going with these new sections, thank you for making them. I'll see if I can dig some relevant numbers out of the devkit for Compy and Giga, but since the Alpha Wolf feature hasn't been implemented yet, there isn't really anything to be done there at this time.
Also, there's nothing wrong with using a talk page to talk to a user, it's more or less the purpose of the page.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 05:59, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

Thank you very much, appreciate it.

Im confused on the request of how to sign a submission?

As for the angler, it exists, but is not yet tameable, unless im out of date... which i might be, as i can no longer find my old online sources stating this anymore. And i haven't been able to try it personally in weeks, unfortunately.

Generally though, any chances made the the PC version arrive later for the Xbox... by days, weeks, ( or months?)...it seems variable based on complexity. Unfortunately my memory is sketchy, especially when it comes to matters-over-time - im better at remembering vague tendencies and patterns, so maybe another user or forum pages could better clarify the details on this. But, to get back on point, there are several creatures that are either not yet available on XBox, or are not yet tameable, the anglers being one of them.

In case that was a bit convoluted (sorry)... Xbox is always behind the PC on all changes and updates, enough so to render many of the pages inaccurate for XBox players for a fair amount of time, possibly leading to much waste in time and resources, and general confusion.

As an idea, maybe always state PC, Xbox, & PS (when applicable) system "differences of facts" when pages are updated to reflect any new implementation? (such as a newly present creature, things like beer and hangovers, changes such as sky height reduction, tameability of already long-present creatures, etc.) Perhapse with separate sections, tables, Symbol, or some sort of system to denote anything not yet available on xbox/PS... regarding all edits, esp as pertains to creature tamability/ ability? Having something for this implemented so users could readily adjust the facts accordingly or specify which system their fact pertains to culd reduce confusion greatly and possibly aleviate burden on sight overseers and moderators.

Ill try the angler as soon as i can, and will return and post my findings here if still necessary.

All just ideas, only hoping to help. :)

Also, sorry for the late reply. I tried to respond days ago, but my phone wasn't having it and then there was no internet >_< .

Just wanted to say one last time thanks again for your appreciation and the time you give to the wiki.

Well, just tamed two anglers my apologies, seems i was out of date. But, for other user friendliness matters, ill leave what i posted up before.  :)

~ Savanna (That correct?)

Different question... Would it be possible for someone to make a page on caravans/caravaning?  :)

Hi Mr Pie... following up on prior posts, I was wondering if you had any further need of information from me regarding my posts here? Im sure Ur quite busy and so just wanted to verify; Ive been checking here now and again but if there's no need to do so id like to stop doing so (online traffic needs and feels awkward). If U have the time & culd please give a heads up that'd be great. :) Thanks.

Trivia is just that. Trivia

If you don't like my edits, just say so. I figured the section titled 'Trivia' was for exactly what trivia is, bits of related information and facts about the current topic. If you think some of the facts I added to a page's trivia section are too obscure or not 'related' enough, that's fine. I'm willing to talk about it. But if you don't like that I'm giving some information about the real creatures the ones in the game are based off of, then it's not really a 'Trivia' section. If it's only for information about the creature as it is in the game, then that information should honestly be part of the main article above. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheDeinonychus (talkcontribs) at 20:47, 28 February, 2016. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

I personally do like this random information on the real-life counterpart of the creature and think that it is proper use of the Trivia section. This new user however, seems to think that it should only be information directly related to the game version. While I do disagree with him, since this is supposed to be a community-run information center, I can't completely write him off without good reason.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 20:47, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
I am not a "new user", I have been editing on this wikia for some time now. 92.24.181.78 23:56, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
The edit history on your IP suggests otherwise. If you're going to use a new IP without any history, you can't expect to be recognized.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 00:20, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
I'm not deliberately using a new IP, though. 92.24.181.78 07:29, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
Forgive me if I'm a little confused here. You're the only name showing up on my talk page. If it's someone else who's removing my trivia additions and telling me to stop writing 'irrelevant' stuff, I'm not sure who it is. And I'm sorry if I insinuated that it was you. But yes, 'trivia' is for information related to the topic, in this case about the particular creature (or the one it's based off of) from the game. TheDeinonychus (talk) 21:21, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
Some of the posts on your talk page are signed by an IP, specifically 92.24.181.78. Only the third and fifth posts are from me.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 21:24, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
You don't seem to understand the issue here. Your bits of "trivia" have nothing to do with anything. They're not needed for the article. You keep saying "If it's only for information about the creature as it is in the game, then that information should honestly be part of the main article above" but it's not that simple. Some parts can't be fit into the main article. Those parts are trivia. Also, as I have stated again, I have seen "trivia" of the sort you have written be removed on several occasions since I first dropped by this wiki. If it has some significance to the in-game animal, then by all means, post it. Otherwise, it's not needed. 92.24.181.78 00:01, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
I'd like to address a point you keep bringing up - Yes, that sort of trivia has been removed in the past (some of which I'm probably the one who removed it), but this wiki and its community are always growing and changing along with the game, so the past isn't always a good representation of the present. Perhaps it's finally time that we split Notes and Trivia into separate sections, as is common on most wikis, so the two can be more easily distinguished. Notes for extra notes about the in-game creature that don't really fit elsewhere in the article, and Trivia for miscellaneous trivia.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 00:16, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
Whoever this person is, they're apparently only removing edits that I've made, since there's been real world information in the trivia sections for months without anyone complaining or removing them. In fact, they've left real world facts others have added on the same page and only removed what I've added. This is seeming less a question of the site's policy on trivia and more like someone only looking to remove my edits specifically. TheDeinonychus (talk) 10:30, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
Because you're the only person who spams the trivia section with stuff that isn't related to the game at all, and doesn't mention anything that is in the game at all in return. Heck, you listed six different "trivia" points on Iguanodon, of which only one of them was arguably relevant to the game creature, and the creature hasn't even been released yet. Here's a thought; since you got the translation of Iguanodon, why not find the translation of vicissitudinis too? 2.101.14.145 16:05, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
To keep this objective, let's find rules on how far trivia can go on this wiki. Please discuss on the Rules-talk page.

Liopleurodon

Why are you snapping at me? I never even SAID anything. You're telling me I need to post proof about my "claim", but I never even MADE a claim, did I? 92.29.126.165 18:20, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

Quoting your summary: It wasn't a myth made up by Walking with Dinosaurs, it was a real thing, look it up. Also, don't mix up feet and metres, that's stupid and Actually, no, remove it entirely. It's not inaccurate so there's no point. You first claim was that the length was not a myth from Walking With Dinosaurs, and your second claim was that to say that it's not accurate to say that there's a discrepency (at least, that's how it looks to me. Feel free to make a correction if I'm wrong there). Both the WWD page[1] and the WWD Wiki[2] suggest they did say this, and many other sites say that this it is a myth they made up and the liopleurodon was closer to 7 meters[3][4][5]. And the "snap" is because as I said, you should never tell somebody to "look up" your claim for you - it's both rude and a good way to lose your own credibility.
-- Mr Pie 5 (talk) 22:13, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
My first claim is true, because it wasn't made up by Walking With Dinosaurs. As I stated on the talk page, Liopleurodon's wikipedia page and several dinosaur books both state that it's based on fragmentory fossils believed to have come from the pliosaur. My second claim, you misunderstand...I said it's not inaccurate, which is true. 92.29.126.165 05:53, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

Add Taming Bonus in Melee Damage

Hi, I'm the guy of the Add Taming Bonus in Dmg in the Quetzal page and also the one who changed the same value in the Giga from -480 to -80%.
I've been thinking in both cases and I think we can do either express it as % or as an absolute value, but we should be consistent in all the dino pages. If the code shows this value as absolute, it could be better to change it in all the dinos (as probably we are going to change them all).
I just wanted to ask you what do you consider more appropriate.
-- Arzorth (talk) 16:02, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

Oh yeah, the Gigant thing. I had forgotten about that. Doing it as a percentage would be more accurate, as the in-game value is displayed as a percentage and the devkit give the values as percentage. However, I've seen a fair amount of people that already don't understand what "additive" and "multiplicative" mean, and making both values percents only confuse them more, so doing the additive as an absolute amount would be easier to read. However, some people might rather know the percentage, since it's the displayed value, so perhaps the best course of action would be to show the percentage and tooltip it with the absolute amount as such: -80%.

Yeh it could be a good solution. By the way i think people can misunderstand the additive and the multiplicative part but in the Creature Stats Calculation section it's very clear.
Well I'm looking forward to your update of the stats, meanwhile I'm going to try to get the devkit, I'm very interested in take a look at the code =)

Putting anything with the Wood Plank ingredient into 'Crafted with Lumber' category

I'm not sure how to get it to do that, I never was very good at making templates. Right now all Lumber (Wood Plank) (Primitive+) items are manually put into a Lumber category. If that could be automated like the 'Crafted with Brick' are, by putting brick as an ingredient on the template and that automatically puts it into that category.

Those "Crafted with X" categories are actually supposed to be hidden categories, so they can be used for organization purposes without adding excess clutter (hidden categories can be viewed by opening the Edit/View Source and scrolling to the bottom of page, below the save page buttons). The reason you're seeing the Crafted with Brick category but not Crafted with Wood Plank is because I did make the Plank one, so it's properly hidden, but forgot the Brick one. Unless what you're actually looking for is a Category for the Lumber/Brick/Concrete/Glass building tiers, like what can be seen on Thatch Wall or Wooden Wall. Those categories actually are added manually.

Ah, ok, guess I'll add those then... Mendrak (talk) 00:35, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

Tribe Page Deletion

Hello, This is in regards to the page you took down, the page was a dedicated history of my tribe told in the third person, every account is told from the perspective of my tribe, and all accounts are true. I am sorry that I did not clarify it as a third person, but I wanted to tell an unbiased account of what happened. The story highlights the biggest reason why server 41 on xbox is in constant turmoil. I wanted to give light to people joining the server on why everyone is so violent, and what the cause of the situation was. Is there any way I could get the post back, or will I have to completely re-write the whole thing? I took care to cater to put the alpha tribes in the lime light, however they were completely ignorant in the matter. Please respond, Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by ThunderXbox41 (talk • contribs) at 15:03, 27 October, 2016 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Deleted pages can always be restored, given reason. However, I'm curious about a few things. If this is your tribe, why do you have screenshots "courtesy The Hunters", and why does your username suggest you are in Thunder? Also, why did you add MLG to Ronin's member list? Tribe pages are meant to be maintained by the tribe it's written about, like a simple website, where people looking for information on the tribe can be pointed to. When they're written by other people and tribe members find out, then we have to deal with an edit-war and play mediator for other peoples' drama (which isn't our job, so it usually just results in a block and a delete).

Thank you for responding, I understand the confusion. This account was created as a tribe account. I was designated as the moderator for the account. I did not create the name however, but the original creator used it as a joke, I have since gained complete control of the account. I took control because of the "MLG" change in Ronin's member list. The screenshots were provided by us, however there is no actual "The Hunters" Tribe on the server, but we wanted to remain as a legitimate source for an unbiased account of MLG's history and that is why we disclosed the source as The Hunters. Hunters do exist as a tribe on the server, and they are the source of everything listed that The Hunters did. Here are screenshots of mine to prove that I am truly a member of MLG:
I apologize for any confusion and I will re-write the MLG history in a better and more positive way if needed, but if this happens the accounts told in the original page will be told by our point of view, which is a harsh truth that degrades Ronin, Thunder, and Hunters. I and my tribe insist that the original tribe listing re-appears because it appeals to our true motives as a tribe. This account will probably turn into an inactive account, or maybe a dedicated page creator for new information because I seem to enjoy writing more about Ark than actually playing it. (Even though I have over 30 days logged on Ark) This account will never write on another account again, and if restrictions are deemed necessary than I will agree to the terms, but we desperately want the tribe page to stay uploaded and our story to be told. Alright, I'm sufficiently convinced. I'll restore the page. You don't need to rewrite it to fit a bias; it's noticeably objective, and so long as no one comes crying "bs", then it's not an issue.

Why?

Why are the carnivorous mammals listed twice? Why have the herbivorous mammals been removed? 79.74.203.70 16:44, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

The wiki is run by players. There's nothing we can do about your game.
