Introduction
ARK Dev Kit is a modified version of the Unreal Engine 4 editor, built on Studio Wildcard's customized engine source code. It has all assets from the game project and required modules, meaning that users have access to the content of ARK: Survival Evolved and its DLCs(With the exception of Primitive Plus and PG Ark). New content is not added immediately after it is released.

Epic Games' official forums have a section dedicated to the Dev Kit, and there are several Discord communities of modders.
Getting started
Would-be modders can begin their journey by downloading the Epic Games Launcher. From this launcher, search for "ARK Dev Kit" in the Store and download it. The download will take quite a while, and takes quite a lot of storage, it is around 500GB.
