Template talk:Visual Data

"Wiki standards prefer to have data from game files" - We don't have such standards for the region pages. In fact it is not easy to create such region specific lists from the game files. Spawn containers are not region-bound. On the other hand the region containers are in many cases larger than you can see in-game. They overlap with others and partly override other areas or are overridden, so that they are partly invalidated. Sometimes there are caves beneath and so you can have more than one valid area at one specific point of the 2D map. Until there is a reliable way to identify the real region it makes no sense to demand that game file data has to be preferred. And therefore I'm going to remove the usage of this template for now. --Flachdachs (talk) 18:37, 10 April 2019 (UTC)

I don’t remember where, but I do remember reading that somewhere on the wiki, the process of using visual inspection was not preferred. Now normally, visual inspection, while sometimes inaccurate, don’t cause too much of an issue, but throw mods into the fray and suddenly I thought about making the template. I can reword it though, to ask the reader to see if they can confirm the information theirselves. Scrubbanubnub (talk) 20:29, 10 April 2019 (UTC)

Looking back on that post I referenced, I can see the misjudgment of my strained eyes. That was my fault. Feel free to delete the template, or perhaps it can be rewritten, the choice is not mine anymore... Scrubbanubnub (talk) 20:37, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
