The Hive Queen is one of the new creatures in Fixed Extinction.

Basic info

Behavior

The Hive Queen spawns all around the wasteland on Extinction. They will attack player on sight by summoning minions and using their lymantia spit.

Appearance

Hive Queen is a giant bug with eight legs, two pairs of front and hind legs, the latter being much longer in comparison. Spikes run along it's back being most noticable on it's abdomen. Queen's head has a pair of antennae and four eyes, two for both left and right side.

Color Scheme and Regions

The Hive Queen's range of its natural color scheme is unknown at this time, however its color regions are available. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Hive Queen.

This information can be used to alter the Hive Queen's regions by entering cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID> in the cheat console. For instance, cheat SetTargetDinoColor 1 6 would color the Hive Queen's "" magenta.

Base Stats and Growth

Minions

Hive Queen has the ability to summon minions under the Right. It will always spawn 10 random units, all level 25, from those listed below. Minions can have genders and so can receive mate boost.

  • Hive Worker - Small version of the Hive Queen, can ride on player's shoulder.
  • Hive Knight - Slightly smaller version of the Hive Queen, can additionally be carried by  Pteranodon,  Tapejara,  Griffin and  Tropeognathus.
  • Hive Drone - Slightly smaller version of the Hive Queen, smaller than Knight, can additionally be carried by  Pteranodon,  Tapejara,  Griffin and  Tropeognathus.
  • Swarm Worker - A flying, wasp-like insect, can induce  Giant Bee's BEES! debuff, will give  Giant Bee Honey if harvested quick enough.
  • Swarm Drone - Slightly larger version of the Swarm Worker with more health, can induce  Giant Bee's BEES! debuff, will give  Giant Bee Honey if harvested quick enough.

Abilities

Combat

General

Uppon spotting its enemy, Hive Queen will almost immideatly spawn minions to attack. Swarm Workers and Drones are faster and will reach the target first, slowing it down and throwing off rider with the BEES! debuff for the rest to catch up and quickly wreck up big amounts of damage.

Strategy

Minions' stats will remain the same no matter what level is the Queen, so level 1 can be as dangerous as 150. The insect shouldn't be approached, unless player has access to a strong and swift mount capable of taking it down fast.  Managarmr can prove useful in this encounter, due to it's breath attack that can freeze the Queen, preventing it from spawning more minions and melee attack range big enough to dispose of the Swarm before it can apply the debuff. Alternatively, a high level  Kaprosuchus can do the job, as when it carries the Queen, the insect can't attack nor summon it's minions.

Weaponry

You can bring weapons that deal AoE damage like  Rocket Launcher or  Tek Rifle instead of a mount, as some minions can be difficult to hit.

Dangers

The most dangerous part of fighting Hive Queen are the aforementioned Swarm minions. Dealing 12 base damage about 2 times per second, they can kill an unprepared player before other minions catch up. The Knights and Drones shouldn't be ignored neither, due to their damage output per attack being the highest.

Weakness

Hive Queen isn't that much of a threat besides her minions and with the right tools, it can be killed before having opportunity to spawn anything. Ground minions (Hive knight, worker and drone) often miss when attacking enemy.

Taming

KO Strategy

Taming Hive Queen is a rather simple task. It's a knock-out tame fed with meat, spoiled meat or mod's new resource - File:Mod Fixed Extinction Overgrowth Substance.png Overgrowth Substance (Mod:Fixed Extinction)

Preferred Food

Player can tame the Hive Queen with food listed below instead of the File:Mod Fixed Extinction Overgrowth Substance.png Overgrowth Substance (Mod:Fixed Extinction), although with less taming effectiveness

Utility

Roles

  • Easy/Medium OSD/Element Node defender - Hive Queen's minions are small and can quickly deal with corrupted creatures the likes of  Triceratops,  Carnotaurus,  Raptor and in larger quantities, even with  Spinos and  Rexes.
  • Base defender - The debuff provided by Swarm minions can be quite helpful in keeping your base safe. You can set up multiple Queens in your base to overwhelm enemies with quickly attacking minions that will throw them off of their tames.
