The Island

Volcanic Maw is a region in The Island. It's the crater of the Volcano and the location of the Tek Cave entrance, the cave leading to The Island  final boss. The area has several lava rivulets ending in a central lava pond and the temperatures are comparable to those met in the Lava Cave.

Surroundings

Its located at the top of the Volcano, the highest mountain on The Island.

This means that to the north can be found the snow biome, to the west is forest regions of the west coast, to the south lies the immense Redwoods and finally to the east is the Frozen Fang.

Creatures

No wild creatures are known to spawn at Volcanic Maw, any sample found certainly spawned in the near location and must be lured by a survivor or its tames.

Notes

• Beware to not fall in the lava nor to jump in the small lava streams descending from the crater slopes.
• It is not possible to deploy (uncryo) creatures near the Tek Cave entrance.
• Reaching the top of the crater slope and walking around its border will unlock the Highest Peak achievement .
• The lava pond can be used for  Magmasaur mating chamber. It is suggested to not totally submerge the female and to use a  Whip to grab the  Fertilized Magmasaur Egg at end of the mating. Still, it is suggested to place the female Magmasaur in a position such that there is still some place between her tail beginning and the ground, to minimize the chances to get the egg meshed under the ground.
