The Thalassian Pistol is one of the Weapons in ARK: Survival Evolved introduced with the release of Aquatica. It is unlocked at Level 29 for 12 Engram Points. Its main use is its ability to be used underwater.

General

The Thalassian Pistol can be used underwater.

The Thalassian Pistol has 210 Durability, costing 0.1 durability per use, for a total of 2100 uses. When hitting harvestable resources with  Tranq Thalassian Ammo, it uses 0.5 durability per use.

It is superseded by the  Thalassian Rifle.

Utility

The Thalassian Pistol is a 12-shot revolver with a high rate of fire and rather low damage, only dealing half of the damage of a  Simple Pistol.

It can be used in the early game as a way to knock out aquatic Creatures.

Using  Tranq Thalassian Ammo deals 12 damage, which increases with item quality. The target's torpor will increase by 400% of the damage dealt instantaneously, as well as an additional 250% of the damage over the next 5 seconds, for a total of 78 Torpor with an engram level Thalassian Pistol.

Notes

• When using Tranq Thalassian Ammo, the torpor per cost ratio is significantly worse than the one of  Tranq Arrows being used with  Crossbow, both of which are unlocked at an earlier Level.
• Bullets fired with the Thalassian Pistol need roughly 1.6 seconds to travel 50 in-game Meters (tested using taming progress tracker). That makes its bullets roughly as fast as the bullets of a Tek Rifle.
• Blueprints with quality can be obtained from Tier 2 Rifts.
