Alpha Beacons?

I've found a beacon that was red and yellow it spawned on carno Island with a thunder noise and had the same aura that Alpha Dinosaurs have this kind of beacon is no where mentioned and it was the first time I ever saw it. it makes an Electric sound when it comes down. I dropped stuff like swat gear and ammunition for the sniper rifle out of it. here is an example of how it looks like but there are red lines in the light too sometimes so its not a regular yellow drop — Preceding unsigned comment added by Halebomm (talk • contribs) at 17:03, 20 April 2016‎ (UTC). Never heard of that, could it be a mod? --Cadaeib (talk) 17:29, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Rainbow beacons

Am I the only one who see rainbow beacons? Are they just for lvl 1 or randomly dropping for all levels? Dont know it for now, just got ressurces out ot it all times. They are switching their colors multiple times in around a second or something. If u maybe know more, let me know / let us know! --Jennylein — Preceding unsigned comment added by LonelySouleater (talk • contribs) at 15:10, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

I've seen them around as well. I assume they're referred to as "white beacons" across the board, though. I'm not sure if there is just a pure white beacon or if my "rainbow beacon" just appears white for the majority of people given graphic discrepancies. To be honest, I don't really pay attention to beacons. I have tribe mates for that. :P My view/opinion isn't that well informed as a result. - Gtoska (talk) 00:11, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
They do indeed appear to be prismatic (a mix of colors) on higher graphics settings, so I call them prismatic beacons. -- IllegalOpcode (talk) 22:50, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
I call them white or prismatic. I also hate them because I see a flash of red on them, followed by disappointment when they change to another color --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 23:53, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

[Vote] Youtube Video

Nice video you have my approval. --SharpShot gif (talk) 12:04, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
I have a couple issues with some stuff you said in the video. First, you said that the beacons will not spawn near structures - not only have I seen players build pens around beacon spawnpoints in order to hoard them, my home has an active spawnpoint only a couple hundred feet away, and one of my outposts had a beacon spawn not even 5 feet away from it. Second, when you went over item quality, you said that all the tiers above primitive were better than what you could craft, but even the primitive items gotten from beacons are almost always better than the primitive items you can craft. However, the video still does a good job of explaining the function of a beacon and is pretty straightforward, and neither of the issues I mentioned are substantially problematic. I'll give it a yes. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 18:23, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Corpse Beacon

How about adding a beacon that will show you where your body is (while the corpse/bag is present)? You left a piece of tech from your arm in the corpse/bag, seems like you should be able to find your way back to it. ;-) 76.88.145.147 05:57, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

It sounds like you're making a request for the developers this to the game; this site is not run by the developers, and as far as we know is not visited by them. That would be something more suited to the Steam Forums. In regards to your idea, attaching a Transponder Node to yourself will allow you to track down your body, provided that you didn't lose the Tracker when you died. There is also a mod available on the Steam Workshop called Death Find that functions similarly to what you seem to be suggesting. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 18:23, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
Wasn't making a request of the developers - more of a "has anyone else thought of this"... and it looks like you answered my question. I will take a look at the "Death Find" mod and give that a try, thanks! 76.88.145.147 05:57, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

Beacon spawn range

Does anyone know at what range a bed or foundation must be placed at to not stop the respawning of the beacons?
I want to build a bed as close as possible to each of the beacon drop points without stopping them from spawning, so I can then "warp" to the beacon position and loot it as fast as possible, and then simply run back to the base. In that way I only need to travel in 1 direction, and if the game decides to throw a nasty surprise at me I would only loose the loot, not my important stuff, like armor & tools, and if it happens I can also just spawn at my "starting" bed, grab my stuff, maybe bring some dinos, and go get back the lost loot again. 82.209.168.178 19:34, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

As mentioned earlier on this page there seems to be no minimal range. In fact I saw Beacons myself comming down directly in a foundation with a wall so that the Beacon was half-in/half-out of the wall. If beds change this, I don't know, but I guess Beacons just don't care what is built in their place. --Cadaeib (talk) 19:42, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

White beacon drops Slingshot blueprint

The first beacon I looted contained a Blueprint: Slingshot. I can't tell from the blueprints page which to use to determine quality, but the icon is purple with grey text. It requires: 8 Wood, 33 Fiber, 1 Hide. Theoreticalcat (talk) 06:26, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Just look at the name of the item, the first word describes its quality (e.g. primitive, ramshackle, etc.). Grey text usually means 'primitive'. --Cadaeib (talk) 09:19, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Beacons page needs refactoring

Hello guys! I continue investigation of ARK Dev Kit and got some kind of new (at least more exact) info about beacons' loot. I think it is too big refactoring to be done, so I'm affraid I can't do it myself.

All beacons above 25 level can randomly contain loot from previous beacons, but not less then 25. After each level in brackets you can see weights with which randomizer works. E.g. for level 35 beacon there is 57% (1.33 / (1 + 1.33) == 0.57) chance to get level 35 loot and 43% to get level 25 loot. It is unclear for me whether loot from different levels can be mixed up in a single beacon.

So, can anyone take this job? I'm pretty new to wiki and affraid will not cope with it properly. Besides, some items are not exactly correct (I mean they differ from what they are named in game, e.g. Turtle Saddle instead of Carbonemys Saddle). --Amegatron777 (talk) 20:26, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

I actually found those same loot lists in the devkit, and had a makeover for this page on my to-do list. The fact that you've typed this out will probably expedite that process though. --Mr Pie 5 (talk) 22:02, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Beacon map

So I had an idea for a beacon (not bacon) map that outlines the beacon spawn locations and which beacons spawn there. I would be quite willing to contribute to this as it is something that I have been dying for, but I am only one person. But having a map of where all the beacons spawn. And it wouldn't be to tedious of a task, all one has to do, is have a gps, and when collecting a beacon take down the co-ordinates and the colour of the drop and add them into a big summary perhaps in the form of a list on a new page (with your guys permission of course). Everyone would be able to contribute and eventually we can be the first people to have a working beacon map. If this idea does carry through I would wish to have it located on the beacon page, perhaps as a link to a new page that has the map AND the list with co-ordinates (maybe in a table?). What do u guys think? Plz respond Wilberforce2 (talk) 10:48, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

One place is good enough to post a suggestion. Like this multiple people may answer without knowing that there is already a discussion or answer. I think that's a good idea, I started the page Beacon Locations with two beacons where you can put your findings.--Cadaeib (talk) 11:28, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Thnk u so much, willing to contribute, cant wait to get a GPS on my current server so i can start to help more often (p.s. this is wilberforce but i am checking from a different device> 123.243.192.32 10:52, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

Beacon Halos

Any information known about the yellow-orange halos that sometimes surround beacons now? Is that an indicator of a double drop, or is it like I think someone mentioned that it means it has a whole new loot table inside? --75.48.229.41 00:40, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
