Veilwyn. Sharpened by the strange forces that fuel its transformation, it glides across ice fields, creates fleeting pathways, and moves through frozen hazards with confident precision and grace.

With its strength, speed, and extraordinary abilities enhanced by Vulpite, this once-diminutive pet can now carry a rider across the Antarctic wastes at great speed. One of our geologists discovered a potentially-exploitable new mineral resource while surveying the perimeter for veins of Element. Some of this novel substance -- which she named 'Vulpite' -- was ingested by her mutant companion before she could stop it. Her juvenile Veilwyn underwent an unexpected metamorphosis during its next teleportation, increasing in mass, muscle density, and cognitive response. We decided to call her majestic new mount a Solwyn.
- Applications
Any young Veilwyn fed enough Vulpite will become a Solwyn. This miraculous fox-mount protects its rider from the ravages of our environment, as they speed together across glacial terrain, up sheer ice clifs, and through frigid polar waters. A Solwyn can use its cryokinesis to create fragile ice-bridges or project sharp ice shards. Its ability to generate localized wormholes allows the creature to tuck itself into a quantum hideaway for later retrieval. The Solwyn's Vulpite-enhanced system gives it greatly increased strength, healing factor, and velocity. Such uncanny traversal abilities and portability would seem to make the Solwyn an ideal mount for scouting applications. Best of all, a Solwyn's drive to protect its bonded Thrall has also expanded, making it more a match for any modestly-sized threat to its rider.
Appearance
Solwyn appear as slender, elegant fox-like creatures with a faint luminance on their bodies. Their skin is partially transluscent, allowing their ribs to be seen. A faint aura follows them around.
Color Scheme and Regions
Behavior
Solwyn are generally quite aggressive to any players, tames or wild creatures in their vicinity. However, they will behave neutrally if the survivor has a Veilwyn companion active.

- 1These are the base speeds of the tamed creature at 100% Movement Speed, i.e. without a possible taming bonus.
- 2These are the speeds of the creature once tamed including a possible taming bonus and no imprinting bonus.

Wild Stats Level-up
Type in values of a wild creature to see on which stats it's emphasized. Green values on a high-level creature are very good for breeding. If you have already tamed your creature you can try to recover the breeding stats with an external tool.[1]
The stat-calculator does not work in the mobile-view, see here for alternatives: Apps
Note that after the creature is tamed it gets bonuses on some stats depending on the taming effectiveness. This makes it hard to retrieve the levels on a tamed creature, so this tool is only for wild ones, but gives a first impression, how well the stats are distributed.

Solwyn applies stacks of
Frosting debuff to the targets that it hits with its attacks. Once a target reaches the 30 Frosting stacks, it triples the damage received once.
Riding or standing next to a Solwyn provides 562
Hypothermic insulation.
Hideaway
The Solwyn transforms into an
Angelic Snowflake, working exactly the same as a
Cryopod. The Solwyn is also immune to
Cryo Sickness by releasing it with this method only.
Combat
Solwyn are highly aggressive in absence of a
Veilwyn companion. They are slightly stronger than Thylacoleo, and as such can be dealt with by any advanced weaponry such as
Shotgun.
Be sure to maintain some distance to avoid getting Frozen during combat, which renders any player or tame slowed.

Utility
Roles
1. Traveler: Solwyn are great travelers, having the ability to scale vertical train and being able to spawn ice bridges in thin air. Combined with a fast base movement speed, Solwyn are perhaps the best option to explore the Lost City, in case the Thralls are hostile to you, as they allow you to avoid most of the grounded Thralls and Lost creatures.
Taming
Solwyn are not tameable by default, but instead are evolved from
Veilwyn using
Pristine Vulpite.
When the companion Veilwyn's current buff "Adventure!" reaches 100%, it can be forcefed with Vulpite, which causes it to disappear into the warp and come out as Solwyn.
Upon collecting
Pristine Vulpite, you receive the Solwyn's Favour buff, which prevents interaction with Solwyns for an hour (by default).
It may be a good idea to trap a max-level Solwyn so you can repeatedly farm
Pristine Vulpite from it without risk of it dying.

Notes
- The Solwyn is one of the two evolutions of the
Veilwyn, the other is the
Malwyn.
- Unlike the Malwyn, however, the Solwyn may be a more natural evolution.
- The Solwyns' design and appearance may be influenced by the Firefox of the folklore of northern and eastern Finland. According to the myth, the fox's tail whips up sparks, either from hitting the ground or from sweeping snow into the air, which creates the colorful lights of the auroras.
- Another influence could be the Huli jing, Chinese mythological creatures usually capable of shapeshifting, who may either be benevolent or malevolent spirits, and with different meanings, powers, and characteristics.
- It might also represent the fundamental concept of light, which symbolizes creation, knowledge, and goodness in contrast with the
Malwyn, which represents darkness.
