Infected Scale is a consumable in  ARK: Survival Evolved. It got introduced with the release of Aquatica.

Gathering

To gather Infected Scales, kill and harvest the corpses of  Abyssal Reaper or  Abyssal Ankylosaurus. They can be found in the Abyss biome, Abssal Ankylos can be spawned in low-tier Rifts. Corpses in the corrosive areas can also be harvested for Infected Scales as well as other infected parts. Be aware that fully farming those corpses will give you a spore debuff similar to the fertile spores on Aberration. Use the  Carving Knife to farm.

Usage

Infected Scales can be used in the  Infectarium to craft  Infected Barnacles. Infected Barnacles crafted with Infected Scales increase the chance to resist infection with Poison and Jaundice.

It can also be consumed by tames and the player, dealing 25 damage and restoring 10 Food to humans.

Eating it will increase your Movement Speed and increase Food and Water drain by roughly 20%. The icon also reads that it increases Melee Damage, but it appears to have no impact.

Forcefeeding it to your tame will increase its Movement Speed. It does not damage tames, it does not increase damage output.

*Keep in mind that a full stack of preserving salts will spoil in 2 hours for all of these containers and must be restocked periodically in order to maximize the spoil time.

Notes

• The buff given by consuming Infected Body Parts lasts for 30 seconds. This buff does not stack, instead consuming one while having an active buff will reset the timer back to 30 seconds.
