Infected Barnacle is one of the Consumables in  ARK: Survival Evolved, being introduced in the Aquatica expansion map.

Usage

Crafted in an  Infectarium with a  Barnacle, 1x Water, and 1-3 infected body parts (Liver, Fin, Stomach, Blubber, or Tooth) with most Infected Barnacle's having greater effect at 2 and the greatest effect at 3 , Infected barnacles always give "water breathing" and apply a bone-mask like skull and barnacle effect usually.

Most organs can be mixed and matched for lower tiers of multiple Infected part on a single Infected Barnacle.

Infected Parts
Part 1 2 3
Infected Scale - Chance to resist infection Poison and Jaundice 20% 50% 100%
Infected Blubber - Chance to resist electrocution 20% 50% 100%
Infected Tooth - Chance to apply Jaundice DoT on attacks 5% 12% 30%
 Infected Fin - Increased swim speed 120% 150% 200%
Infected Liver - Chance to apply Poison when attacked 5% 12% 30%
Infected Stomach - Changes diet carnivore piscivore herbivore

Infected Barnacles also change whether unridden creatures swim, sink or float in the water. Most creatures seem to slowly sink when augmented, even if they would float to the watersurface unaugmented. Sinking Speed appears to be dependent on the creature.

Caution: Infected Barnacles are permanent, they cannot be replaced or removed once applied.

Compatible creatures

Currently, the following tameable creatures can use Infected Barnacles:

The following flying creatures can equip Infected Barnacles despite them not being able to go in water. They still profit from the additional effects:

Uncompatible creatures

The following creatures can not use Infected Barnacles:

Mechanical creatures, such as the  Mek or the  Enforcer also cannot equip augments.

Notes

  • Even though an Infected Barnacle cannot be removed, cloning the creature will result in the clone not having the Infected Barnacle
  • Pressing E on the Infected Barnacle while in the players inventory will result in the Barnacle having no effect. You will be able to unequip it, after which you can redo the process correctly via either dragging it on the slot or pressing E while it is in the creature's inventory.
  • Allosaurus and Brontos do not show a mask when augmented.
    • Creatures which are only able to equip Infected Barnacles after patch 360.35 will not have visible masks.
  • Despite being listed as a crafting ingredient, you cannot use  Abyssal Meat to craft them. Mixing them with other infected body parts will result in the Abyssal Meat disappearing, but it will not add any effect to the Infected Barnacle.
