Our kingdom's perimeter is plagued by the fever dreams of a mad wizard! Consider this floating little freak, the 'Gloon.' as my Thralls have named it. I refuse to speak the word again. They are, to me, Oddities. Edmund Rockwell must have fashioned these repulsive balloon animals to function like the charge-absorbing pets Helena Walker was able to tame , aboard the ARK that eventually delivered her old friend to our doorstep. I very much doubt the potential utility of such an Oddity can outshine its absurdity.
- Applications
In her archived field notes from that malfunctioning orbital arcology, Walker described the ability of bioluminous creatures to attract or repel various cavern-dwelling mutants. These Oddities seem similarly capable of manipulating the invasive creatures at our borders, but i am loath to tolerate their use as living so-called 'charge-lanterns'. Like their clever but cowardly master, Rockwell's gifts tend to be a curse. The pupils of the Oddities can widen or contract to flood an area with charged light or focus it into destructive lasers. It can also wriggle those same glowing spots across its bulbous eye-sacs to mesmerize the weak-minded. Most annoyingly, the Oddities can warp light around themselves to effectively becomes invisible. As if their ocular abilities weren't confounding enough, the bilious spit of these floating gaslights seem to enrage any nearby aberrations. Although my Thralls have learned to isolate and tame the little Oddities by destroying their attendant revenants, I have expressly forbidden their us within our city limits. I think I may decree summary execution for any of my subjects who dare call them a 'Gloon' henceforth. Damn.
Appearance
The Gloon have a strange appearance, almost like a frog. Its skin is covered in strange pores, and it has disproportionate, huge eyes. The eyeball is connected by a single thick bunch of muscle to the body and covered in a transparent covering.
Color Scheme and Regions
Behavior
Gloons float around corrupted towers in the crash sites of Aberration, surrounded by Revenants. They are generally aggressive to players, unless their eyes have been deflated, as required in the taming process.

- 1These are the base speeds of the tamed creature at 100% Movement Speed, i.e. without a possible taming bonus.
- 2These are the speeds of the creature once tamed including a possible taming bonus and no imprinting bonus.

Wild Stats Level-up
Type in values of a wild creature to see on which stats it's emphasized. Green values on a high-level creature are very good for breeding. If you have already tamed your creature you can try to recover the breeding stats with an external tool.[1]
The stat-calculator does not work in the mobile-view, see here for alternatives: Apps
Note that after the creature is tamed it gets bonuses on some stats depending on the taming effectiveness. This makes it hard to retrieve the levels on a tamed creature, so this tool is only for wild ones, but gives a first impression, how well the stats are distributed.

Passive
The Gloon camouflages the survivor. While camouflaged, it cannot be the target of wild creatures unless provoked.
The Gloon uses its eyes like a flashlight and makes survivors immune to
Plant Species Z Fruit flashbangs.
Slowfall
The Gloon has a Slowfall option on its wheel menu, which, when active on the player's shoulder, slows the player's fall speed and their fall damage.
Combat
Gloon alone are not particularly dangerous, however they will try to mesmerise the player or dino, which triggers an autorun, somewhat akin to the fear roar of the
Yutyrannus. However, Gloon are always surrounded by various types of File:Revenants.png Revenants which can quickly overwhelm a survivor or tame when mesmerised.
The best way to deal with colonies of Gloon is to maintain distance and shoot them down from range using strong ranged weaponry, such as
Longneck Rifle or File:Fabricated Crossbow.png Fabricated Crossbow.

Utility
Roles
- Scout Companion: Gloons can turn the player invisible along with themselves at the cost of the stamina, making them the single best low profile scouting option in the game, particularly in PvP. It can also mesmerise any creature which may be accidentally aggro'd, keeping the survivor completely safe.
- Charge Light Source: Being sources of charge light, they can be useful in dealing with
Reaper and
Nameless. - Cave Exploring Assistant: The combined perks of invisibility and acting as a potent light source make the Gloon invaluable for quick and easy cave runs.
- Area Lighting: Gloons have a strong non-charge light source, whose angle of throw and intensity can be controlled, making them useful as general area lighting.
- Crowd Control: Gloon can fire a blob which makes the target revenant and immediately aggros every nearby
Thrall and creature, getting them into one area to serve as a decoy or be subject to explosive damage.
Taming
Gloons can only be tamed passively rather than the knockout taming method. However, there are a few requirements before it can be passively fed.
- Gloon must not be aggro'd by the survivor while its floating with eyes still glowing (crouch under to avoid its detection radius)
- Eliminate any File:Revenants.png Revenants attracted to the floating gloon without alerting the Gloons (the revenants will automatically become aggressive regardless once one is down), it is recommended to use strong ranged weaponry, such as
Longneck Rifle or File:Fabricated Crossbow.png Fabricated Crossbow - Pop bullets or arrows at its eyes to deflate it and lower it down until its within ground level.
Once it starts floating only within the ground level (notable by its eyes no longer glowing), it will not be aggressive anymore and can be fed passively with mushrooms, notably
Kibble or File:Plant Proto Species R Seed.png Plant Proto Species R Seed until its tamed.

Notes
- The Gloon is surprisingly named after a Cthulhu Mythos entity from H.P. Lovecraft's story "The Temple." In the story, Gloon was a Lovecraftian malevolent slug-like Great Old One that guards a portal in Atlantis, corrupts flesh, and causes vivid dreams of underwater cities in those who possess its likeness.
- The Gloon was primarily made by modder, WC_Zarthan, who made the File:Tek Bunker.png Tek Bunker before it became official, and before Zarthan joined Studio WildCard.
