Data

The Gigadesmodus is a mammal in the Lost Colony Expansion Pack. It is a gargantuan wyvern/bat-like creature that serves as a flying fortress and dominates the battlefield by raining down  Red Element-infused blood to decimate foes from afar, or delivering a devastating tail execution to anyone foolish enough to challenge its reign.

Temperament

Ruthlessly Aggressive

Our gene-forges have at long last delivered a singular regal mount worthy of my esteem! Gigadesmodus is a truly intimidating chiropteran steed unparalleled in history or legend.

This mighty colossus will earn the respect and awe of all who see it winging across the skies above our kingdom.

Gigadesmodus carries a reservoir of consumed blood mixed with Red Element that can deal with my enemies at a significant distance. And in the event an example must be made, the beast's sharp tail can be employed to deliver a devastating finishing blow.

Applications

In war-readiness, Gigadesmodus surpasses every measure. That fearsome strength means it can easily carry my mobile command center on its back while hauling any behemoth high above the battlefield. Echolocation allows Gigadesmodus to navigate in complete darkness, and its nocturnal aggression fuels a relentless pursuit of my enemies. I am truly delighted with this living emblem of my enduring majesty! Long shall we reign. In any challenge to my authority were to arise, they would have little hope of overcoming the ferocious creature's combat prowess. I've altered the metabolism of Gigadesmodus to promote rapid healing with every bite it delivers, and yo share its regenerative power with me.

Appearance

The Gigadesmodus is reminiscent of a huge Wyvern/Bat hybrid with large horns.

  • For a comparison of the stats of all creatures, see Base Creature Statistics.
  • For an explanation of exactly how the levelup calculation works, see Creature Stats Calculation.
  • 1These are the base speeds of the tamed creature at 100% Movement Speed, i.e. without a possible taming bonus.
  • 2These are the speeds of the creature once tamed including a possible taming bonus and no imprinting bonus.
  • For a comparison of the speeds of all creatures, see Base Creature Speeds.

Wild Stats Level-up

Type in values of a wild creature to see on which stats it's emphasized. Green values on a high-level creature are very good for breeding. If you have already tamed your creature you can try to recover the breeding stats with an external tool.[1]

Gigadesmodus

The stat-calculator does not work in the mobile-view, see here for alternatives: Apps

Note that after the creature is tamed it gets bonuses on some stats depending on the taming effectiveness. This makes it hard to retrieve the levels on a tamed creature, so this tool is only for wild ones, but gives a first impression, how well the stats are distributed.

Lore

  • The  Lost King made the Gigadesmodus as his own personal Royal Mount.
    • This also means the Gigadesmodus was a one of a kind creature (until the player obtained its egg sack that is)

Taming

Due to lore reasons, Gigadesmodus does not exist in the wild, nor do they appear to be tameable (and breedable) by any method. However, they are obtainable in the form of a fertilized egg sac by defeating the Lost King and Lost Queen, and ascend afterwards.

All surviving players in the mission will receive a randomly leveled egg.

Notes

  • The Gigadesmodus' design and appearance might be influenced by Camazotz, a terrifying "death bat" deity from K'iche' Maya mythology, famously featured in the Popol Vuh, representing darkness, sacrifice, and the underworld (Xibalba).
  • Gigadesmodus was previously mistaken as "Gigadesperus" (meaning great desperation in Latin), before its true name was revealed.
  • The Gigadesmodus marks the second tamable creature that can only be obtained from beating a Boss within ARK, the first being the  Fenrir.
    • However, it marks the first time this kind of method has been done within a canonical map.
