The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~) when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:

  • Only wiki-related issues should be posted here. For support or suggestions regarding the game, try posting on the official forums at [1] or emailing the developers at [email protected].
  • This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post discussions on the talk page.
  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete|reason for deletion request}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene. If a user must be reported here, please use {{user}}, preferably as the topic subject/headline.

Adding the Hover Skiff to Template:CarryableTable

Would it be possible to add the Hover Skiff to Template:CarryableTable (or wherever it needs to be added) in order to have it appear on articles as a valid thing that can pick-up certain creatures? *I* know it can carry virtually everything, but as a server admin - there's a lot of players who can't work things out backwards.

I've never used Cargo so I am too anxious to make the change myself. Even looking at the existing code, I'm not confident that I can just extrapolate without breaking something. 📉 Emptylord (talk) 14:25, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

The Cargo table should now register whether things can be carried by the Hover Skiff as long as the carryableby field lists the "TEK Hover Skiff". The data table should be populated first before the carriability table is expanded (can't do it myself at this moment in time). Alexrmski (talk) 08:44, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Updating "Diet" to reflect gameplay rather than dossier

It is my understanding (in part from when I was an admin a couple years back) that a lot of our creature information is autogenerated from the game files. How feasible would it be to update "Diet" on the infobox to reflect what is true in game, in spite of what is claimed in the dossier? Would the bot overright userinput every time there's a patch? I genuinely cannot remember. The dossiers have become increasingly trivial over the years, and they are in large part treated as "ignorable lore" even on the articles - but some information granted in the dossiers is still the information reflected in the infobox, even when it's inaccurate. For example,  Megachelon claims it's an omnivore - but it's a herbivore in-game.

As with above, I'm mainly asking as a server owner who has to deal with people asking questions; as an editor who hates seeing people say "yeah, I don't trust the wiki". 📉 Emptylord (talk) 15:22, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Since late June gameplay-based information is preferred over the dossiers in infoboxes, with an additional extension of the dossier template to allow for its info to be retained. Check Otter for example.
Having a bot auto-fill the diet is planned (if not already specified), but most likely not for ARK 1 (given that data extraction focus has been shifting towards updating its core). Alexrmski (talk) 08:30, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

automated language filter

On the page https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/-Space-_(Genesis:_Part_2) I tried to improve visibility by change the background color of the "Supply Crate color" table using a little of html-CSS code to make it but it flagged as "potential vandalism" and "prevent it" by not making the update, I dont know if is not allowed but I think is really really useful because it makes so much easy to read which kind of drop are by having the literal color right there

Finixian (talk) 00:15, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

The filter probably got triggered by the isolated word "black". I've reinstated the edit, thanks. Alexrmski (talk) 17:04, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

Another False Vandalism Flag

Today I've added the page for the Crystal Unka for the Crystal Dinos Collection mod, and I worked on completing the page to an acceptable point for the past few hours. Once I finally tried to save, it flagged me for vandalism under the reason "Gibberish", despite it definitely being a comprehensible page. I'm still learning the ways of the wiki but after looking it over it just seems to be another error in the filter. Any way I could get help with this?

Aquonyx (talk) 03:47, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

I'll reinstate your edit in around 2 hours once back at home. In a few days the filter should not cause you any further issues. Alexrmski (talk) 11:17, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
Restored. Sorry for the trouble. Alexrmski (talk) 13:07, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

Potential vandalism for Ebenus Astrum

So, I want to add useful infromation about spawns on the Battle Island and then typed in the Monolophosaur's ingame name (Monolonoding longasaurus)(had to hide some of name parts because it keeps flaging vandalism). It's what it's called in game and on this wiki. Please fix it. 91.243.23.229 08:37, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
